I never suggested that bikes should NEVER be brought on trains, just that train companies should not be ENCOURAGING people to bring bicycles on trains.
Of course you should be able to take your bike on a train for the purposes you're suggesting. There should likely be an extra fee for it, given the extra space you're taking up, but sure, it's a perfectly good use-case for taking a bike on a train.
