I use bitcoin all the time to buy stuff. It has become a normal part of my everyday life, and I do not have to use an exchange. 99% of these transactions are done through lightning, which is private. You can also move bitcoin off of an exchange into a lightning wallet directly, which leads to my bitcoin not being traceable thereafter.
