Lots of people are following others just because there is no way to simply add a contact and mark a specific key as the real/trusted one, given the high number of impersonating profiles on Nostr. Users don't necessarily want to follow, but Nostr doesn't really have just lists of "contacts" right now. Everything we did, as spec, seems to be centered on "following". We will have to change that soon or later.
