We reckon our accounts in this "money" just like they did. And yet, many of us realize some important element has been taken away. Increasing numbers of people realize that something is rotten. So we reject the cargo cult, without understanding why "the planes don't land", and find some other way of organizing and some other means of exchange. Bitcoin is another cargo cult - an imitation of prior practices stripped of meaning. We use a ledger to carefully track who has how much - of what? Points, credits, Bitcoins, the name doesn't matter.
