The first time I visited a public mine, as I walked in and old-timer approached me. &#34;The trick to finding a lot of gems is to go through a lot of ore.&#34; Volume is key.&#xA;&#xA;There have been a several times where I was in charge of non-profit organizations. A typical scenario of &#34;sifting&#34; for gems goes like this:&#xA;&#xA;o- Put out ads regarding a meeting with the goal of attracting new members&#xA;&#xA;o- 30 people show up, are excited to participate, and give contact info&#xA;&#xA;o- Reminders are made, but the following meeting only 10 of those people show up. They&#39;re excited still, and maybe committ to volunteer for an event&#xA;&#xA;o- Reminders are sent out, but only three people from the 30 attend. These gems continue to show up without reminders.&#xA;&#xA;Most people don&#39;t realize how much of what happens in the world takes place from the actions of a handful of individuals. If you collect any gems, be thankful; they&#39;re valuable!</html></oembed>
