I bought a hen at a market as a child to save it from what I thought were cruel conditions. It was a beautiful golden color with a white underside, so I named it Twinkie. Took it to a friend's house that night since they had a coop. Stayed the night, came out the next morning to find feathers and chicken parts everywhere. A coyote or something had dug its way under the fence and had a very good meal. Learned several lessons about life that day.
