I just got scammed. I was asked by one of my contractors to pay for a development server alongside a link. Not assuming they hadn’t done due diligence on procurement I put in the order. But they had asked fucking Perplexity to find the cheapest thing, and the scammer had done the whole “cater your scam site to do the clanker-SEO” and ended up with a recommendation list full of scams. \n\nIt was not a significant amount of money but it is the first time ever I have sent money to a scam in my life. There was a short chain of failures that lead me to this point. I wouldn’t have done it solo. Anyways point being “people you hire listening to clankers who have been injected full of scam sites” is absolutely a business risk that I just personally felt. "}
