You can use some tools like web of trust and sharing broader blocking information (npubs, tags, etc.) but there are very few cases where 1 person can unilaterally prevent everyone else from seeing a third party's posts. They have always got to opt-in. This is by design, as doing otherwise is antithetical to the very concept of how nostr works.
As I understand it, fundamentally at a conceptual level, a note is *not* the equivalent of starting a forum thread. Replies to a note just indicate what they are in response to, and the software bundles together all things that do so in that specific way. The structure for receiving notifications for your is more like subscribing to anyone talking about an event in a way the software registers.
The advantages to this are that bad actors are vulnerable. They are unable to prevent others from directly discussing what they post. This includes people who do in the replies - someone commenting negative things cannot simply block others to make it seem like their negging is unchallenged by hiding retorts, corrections, etc.

I want to be clear. Grok Bot is awesome and fills a long-anticipated need, but it can eat through your tokens because it rereads chat history on every turn.
The longer the conversation, the more expensive it gets until the context is automatically summarized. Add shared memory, multiple bots with their own conversations, and bots communicating with each other, and usage can climb quickly.
There are workarounds, but it's a real issue. The team is aware of it and actively responding in the forum.
Until they get token usage under control, I recommend limiting your automated processes to what's essential, having your bots delegate development work to Claude, and using regular Grok or your preferred chatbot for general research, brainstorming, and back-and-forth conversations, along with dedicated AI tools for image generation—especially if you're running a multi-bot setup.
Just had a call from Apple’s review team… they are being adamant about not approving Nymchat because one small part of it allows accessing purchased AI credits for Nymbot outside of their in-app purchasing system. I already removed all ability to purchase at all in the iOS app and removed any call to action button. So, I either need to fully remove access to purchased credits for Nymbot even if they were purchased through the website with nothing to do with Apple in the Nymchat app, or integrate in-app purchases. Such a goddamn pita…

Every time I post, I'm chasing two outcomes.
The first is simple:
That your day is slightly brighter, lighter, wiser, or more hopeful than it was a few moments before.
The second is that, when you close the app/client and return to your life, a part of you looks forward to coming back here tomorrow.
Not for outrage. Not for endless scrolling. Not for fear mongering etc etc
But for conversation. For ideas. For community. For our futures.
If I can contribute even a small measure to that feeling, then every post has served its purpose.
Because behind every profile is a human being carrying burdens we'll never fully see. And making one person's day a little better is still a worthy use of our time.
Those ultrameggagigga rels are for the future. Look at the past. We have a shitty quality tv series from 20-30 years ago exactly beacuse someone thought that "this is enough".
And yes, now a single 80GB movie seems insane. But there is a chance those rels will survive and someone in the future will have access to a somewhat good quality
