# Corkboards.me 0.8.6 Beta
Remember thumbtack corkboards?
Build your own shared digital corkboards at corkboards.me!
Your corkboards are where you customize your lists and social feeds, then decide how many columns you want them to fill.
_No more forced algorithms._
No one but you gets to decide what notes you get to see, and in what order.
Combine notes however you wish -- groups of friends and follows, hashtags or even rss for news, video, or podcast feeds!
Your personal dashboard will hold as many private corkboards as you'd like to build.
Then, every time you open corkboards.me on your computer, tablet, or phone, new notes get loaded automatically into columns -- like notecards on a fresh corkboard!
Read your corkboards like real bulletin boards — dismiss notecards to make more room when you’ve already read them, or save them aside to read later.
Filter the notes on each corkboard in various ways with the easy note-kind toggles, the mute-by-keyword feature, and more.
**The only thing left to decide is how many notes you want to read each day :D**
### Default corkboards get you started:
*The 'Me' corkboard* has all the notes that you've posted publicly, starting with your pinned notes. This is where your visitors land - your profile information shows at the top,
*The 'Follows' corkboard* shows a chronological feed of the notes from all your friends/follows.
*The 'Discovery' corkboard* shows interesting notes from friends of friends.
*The 'Notifications' corkboard* shows all the Bitcoin zaps and reactions to your notes.
*The 'Replies' corkboard* shows all the replies to your posts, where you can continue the conversation.
*The 'Saved' corkboard* shows all the notes you've saved for future reference.
### There's so much more you can do with custom corkboards:
- Build a newspaper or magazine from trusted or interesting sources.
- Create a group feed of associates and hashtags that post about a common topic or project
- Make arbitrary aggregates, like lists.
- Easily view a portfolio of a friend, or your own without logging into your artist account.
- Combine feeds from musicians, video feeds, or podcasts so you have an always fresh playlist.
- Customize what others see when they land on your 'Me' corkboard. Need a portfolio or business landing? Want to feature your favorite notes, your friends, your favorite books, articles, songs, videos, podcasts, memes, photos... or....

Or is it a worldview that is faithful to, and supported by these?
The less needy the welfare recipient, the more justified the taxpayers resentment (obviously).
So why are we not focused on banker bailouts, no-bid contracts, corporate welfare, and subsidies to billionaires?
Because of identity politics and narrative control.

Lemme guess, we eventually find that the logical conclusion to all this, the way to achieve the greatest satisfaction for the greatest number, the minimal suffering, the maximal freedom, minimal offense... is for everyone to run their own relay for their own notes, use outbox, and remain vigilant in curating their own feeds.

Why should we feel more vulnerable to the emotions that we all share than we do in ridicule? What left us comfortable with foolishness, but in fear of exposing the raw and tender nerves of hurt? Were we more able to feel than those we trusted? Could they have learned had they let anyone but themselves set the tone? Why should we hide what the broken had mishandled, from the trustworthy who will need it?

- Note fetching significantly faster and more reliable
### Login/Logout
- Cross-accounts isolation for drafts
### Threads
- Kind 1111 replies to non-kind 1 content
### Note Rendering
- Linux Desktop: 'My notes' display regression - didn't always show on 'All Follows' even when toggled, after idle / refresh. Also, sometimes was showing 'my notes' dated prior to oldest note otherwise fetched
- Notes render sooner after they are received, rather than all at once after all are fetched
### Compose/Reply
'All promises rejected' error after extended idle time when trying to post a note, fixed
### get.corkboards.me
- Download links for linux desktop, older versions available
### Known Bugs
- Linux Desktop: Shuffling sound still inconsistent over bluetooth. Works then doesn't when sound plays elsewhere on system.

Finished this movie.
Pretty good with a bit of imagination.
The underground scenes were too Scooby Doo and the dialogue too Law & Order. The sound is terrible, it needs good music, and it had a few laughably terrible CGI scenes. There's a key scene that was treated as an afterthought, the plot reveal. I got a bit worried but the ending delivered reasonably well. It's got potential'

# Full Changelog
### Login/Logout
- Added keycast as a recommendation for self-hosted nip-46 signing
### Threads
- Replies to a thread, though only posted once, were sometimes rendering twice in the modal. Duplicate render would only disappear on close and reopen.
### Replies Board
- Buttons to reply to and zap replies and other options were missing from the replies tab
- Dismissing notes in a feed was making them disappear from the replies board
### Note Rendering
- Keeping older 'me' notes undismissed in a feed was confusing the time window of the fetcher. I think this is working much better now.
### Emojis / Emoji Packs
- When a follow's newly published or edited emoji pack shows in a feed, it was missing reply / repost / react / zap options
### Compose/Reply
- Ctrl-z undo and Ctrl-y redo now works in compose boxes
- Easy/obvious button to remove attached/uploaded images while composing a note or reply
### Zapping
- Wallet was not staying connected across sessions
### Search
- Search now optionally includes or doesn't include dismissed notes
- Search is a bit more resilient
### Features
- Slow connection / data saver default modes ez selector, including full, balanced, text only, or custom
- Support for badges, shown on profile
- Schedule a note for later
- Post 'anonymously' and still receive notifications for it, with option to post as new npub every time, or same npub over the course of a session. You can also convert the anonymous account to a multi-account setup, or just backup the nsec. *experimental new feature with warnings throughout app*
- Expiring polls, including option for single choice/multi-choice, zap required/not required (including spec proposal)

I like it. My thought is that 'turn out to be' 'perhaps' and 'seems fair' obscure a lot of important detail. I usually tend toward WOT being not a decisionmaker but an informational facilitator, in other words, no 'consequence' of reaching arbitrary threshold beyond perhaps changing the color of the border on the avatar to inform human they might want to look further into whether the automated ratio algorithm has detected something relevant. I have been having WOT visions of many complicated metrics and sliders and shareable algorithms and sets published by communities along with data as to how well their unique combination has worked (ratio of 'injustice' and 'inaccuracy' claims to community approval ratings??). i.e. recursive complexity. I like your idea's simplicity - it could be very useful even though a one dimensional metric.
The problem is in the absolute word 'solely'.
It doesn't matter whether there is revenue, it matters whether the existence of that revenue changes decisions, whether concessions are made to increase it, and whether the source of the revenue dictates the content.
There are people for whom the revenue is not primary, and there are people who would continue doing what they do for less than what they earn, and people who will change of it means more revenue.
A Sound of Thunder
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0318081
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Sound_of_Thunder_(film)
A Ray Bradbury adaptation starring Edward Burns and Ben Kingsley.
> The film was originally going to be directed by Renny Harlin, star Pierce Brosnan in the main role, and be shot in Montreal, Canada. The budget was meant to be $55 million.
> Filming was to have begun in Montreal on 16 April 2001. Brosnan wanted a rewrite of the script. However, the filmmakers did not have time to rewrite and finish the film by July 1, which is when Hollywood writers and actors were poised to go on strike. Matters were complicated when Canadian producer Nicolas Claremont died in April 2001.
> By November 2001 Harlin had been replaced by Peter Hyams. Brosnan left the project as well and was replaced by Edward Burns.
> After Franchise Pictures went bankrupt during post-production, the remaining backers provided only $30 million to work with, out of the $80 million originally allocated. Previsualization software was used.
> The film was largely panned by both critics and audiences alike. On Rotten Tomatoes, it has a 6% score based on 98 reviews, with an average rating of 2.8/10. The site's consensus states: "Choppy logic and uneven performances are overshadowed by not-so-special effects that makes the suspension of disbelief a nearly impossible task." Common criticisms against the film included its poor special effects, uninvolved performances, scientific errors and Ben Kingsley's hair. Audiences surveyed by CinemaScore gave the film a grade of "D−" on scale of A+ to F.
> James Duffy of The Boston Globe stated "The combination of awful special effects and mediocre acting created this catastrophe," and it included the film in its list of "Bomb at the box office". Roger Ebert stated that while he "cannot endorse it, [he] can appreciate it" as a film that is bad because it "want[s] so much to be terrific that [it] explode[s] under the strain."
> At the 2005 Stinkers Bad Movie Awards, the film was nominated for Worst Director, Worst Supporting Actor (Kingsley), Most Intrusive Musical Score, and Least "Special" Special Effects, but it won none of those awards.
> Shooting took place in the Czech Republic in 2002. The unit was affected by the August 2002 floods.
> Kingsley said "I was allowed to give a very ironic comedic performance. I was able to make my director (Peter Hyams) stifle a huge amount of laughter behind the camera."
> Director Peter Hyams said the effects were done "in a mom-and-pop fashion. That's the only way we could make this film for a reasonable amount of money. We had stuff done in Germany, Hong Kong, India. We've also taken a long time to get it all completed. The post-production on this film will be over two years by the time we're finished. I myself will have worked on it for three years."
> Hyams' son John later said "it was one of the hardest experiences of his [father's] career. You know, it's got to be a real sinking feeling going into something shooting all of it against green screen with all this trust that you're relying on this whole element, this whole technology that ultimately you're not going to be able to afford and you have to do it anyway."
I'm halfway through. It's not nearly as bad as that makes it sound.
It looks to me like the big problem is context. It had cheesy dinosaurs 12 years after Jurassic Park had changed the game, culture didn't have the taste for a campy Starship Troopers style fun scifi blaster adventure. The $50 million below intended budget meant that all that was filmed on green screen for a big budget movie suffered the post production results of a low budget one.
The set construction is solid though, the story is good, and I'm actually finding disbelief easy to suspend, because it isn't trying to be heady accurate scientific intellectualism so much as fun. The acting is above average, Kingsley is great. There are interesting commentaries on profit motive and technological advancement, the ending is not obvious to me. It employs minimal low-IQ devices and cheap tropes. A few scenes capture situations I've not seen in any other movie.
Side note: In conversations between the main character and his computer, this movie predicts the behavior of AI models very accurately.
I propose a team of AI video enthusiasts use this as a proof of concept and rework the special effects. Much of it would be straightforward scenes where the foreground is professionally shot, but the background is amateur hour. Scenes where the model of the monster is okay - but needs higher resolution touchups. The physical sets are good enough as is and were really done well for its time. I think the challenge will be the smoothness of the monster movements, but who knows, maybe the tools will make it a breeze.
The result would not need to be a modernization that is meant to hold up to today's standards - but reworking it into a consistency that lets the good parts of this movie shine. The time that has passed has made it feel more like a blast from the past than the failed attempt at groundbreaking cinema that it must have felt like at the time.
Seems like the perfect specimen for a community remaster made cult classic showcase of what crowdsource tech + AI can do.

that would result from those down the road failures that are so much more likely when vetting is not prioritized. As individuals in a market (regulators), our responsibility is to incentive wise posture. Standing by those who reject short term profits and personal benefit in favor of responsibility and long term safe stewardship. Those who fail to do so, irrespective of intent, should by accountable. If the market instead softens the consequences of failure, it fails to regulate.

# Full Changelog
### Protocol
- NIP-25 k/a tags with relay hints on reactions
### Branding / Copy
- New logo / favicon - thumbtack is more like a tophat
### UI
- Rapid 'Follow' click protection
- Unresolved usernames show 'Goofy Gopher' convention instead of npub
- Autosave permissions prompt immediately on login
### Backup/Restore
- Autosave now pauses during a restore to avoid overwrite mid-stream
### Note Rendering
- Ignores notes dated in the future
- Feedgrid may be more stable / responsive, note loading a bit faster
- Manual retry button and informative message when note content doesn't load
- Youtubes don't embed for privacy reasons. User optionally can have titles fetched through Corkboard's proxy or can choose their own proxy (must test in production)
### Filters/Toggles
- Repost/quote impersonation check before rendering
### Architecture
- Fix: tor will not silently fallback to clearnet on failure
- Fix: nsec login that fails to encrypt will not fallback to silent plaintext local nsec storage
- Fix: Hostile relay cannot force nip-04 downgrade
- Fix: Blossom fallbacks were first on failure retry, user's relays are now prioritized always, and fallback preference always honored
- Video/audio routed through image proxy
### Zapping
- Verification safety checks and redirect refusal
### Features
- Ability to 'undo' dismissing a saved note
### Untested:
- Android, iphone, macOS, windows desktop
### Known Bugs
- Linux Desktop: Shuffling sound inconsistent
- Nested 'replied-to' notes not always consistent
- Sometimes images appear twice in rendered notes
