I've lost old blogs the usual ways: Geocities, LiveJournal, a host that quietly folded. Most of us don't lose writing because we're careless. The platform changes, the feed dies, the URL turns into a 404.
Persistwise is my answer to that. It watches your RSS feed and keeps three copies of every new post: a Wayback Machine snapshot, an IPFS pin, and a saved copy. You keep writing wherever you already do.

Bahá’í Reader 0.1.8 is out with a new Today view: the Badí‘ date, sunrise, noon and sunset, your obligatory prayer time, the next Feast and Holy Day, the Fast and the passage of the day. Also an Alláh-u-Abhá counter, Clock times for far-north regions, and reminders that are off until you turn them on. Location is typed in and never leaves your machine.

Fair question. The characters and the adventures are mine, and I'm using the show to learn how far AI tools can go in telling those stories. The narration is AI, and I totally get that it isn't for everyone. Thanks for giving it a listen.

New My Azeroth Life bonus episode: "Wings, Ghouls and a Very Long Monday."
I introduce my two new Retail characters. Lemmindris, a Night Elf Demon Hunter, gets a fast, action-packed origin. Ghoulsbie was a human from Lordaeron who died, became Forsaken, then died again and rose as a death knight. His story is darker, and he's pretty cynical about it. He can't even win at being dead.
About 18 minutes.

New on My Azeroth Life: Steel Over Sparkles.
WoW Forever starts Nov 4 and I'm going analog there: Warrior, Rogue, Hunter and Paladin, probably all Horde. Names come after they're safely mine.
In Retail I'll only play what Forever doesn't have: Lemmindris, a Night Elf Demon Hunter, and Ghoulsbie, a Death Knight. Expect more Forever than Retail for a while.

Linkguard has a small detail I like: when a page sits behind bot protection, it gets reported as blocked, not dead. A link checker that cries wolf every time a site throws up a bot check isn't much help.
It's a free GitHub Action for Jekyll, Hugo and folderblog sites. It finds dead outbound links and looks up Wayback Machine copies for them, and it's report-only unless you ask it to open a pull request.

Lol that's what we'll do eventually I think. Currently have different strands of colored LEDs that go up depending on the holiday.

Small fm-cli tip: when you are reading a message, press b to open its HTML version in your browser, or i to load the images inline if your terminal can draw them. Plain text by default, the fancy version only when you ask for it.

For the relay nerds: my relay lists its limits right in its NIP-11 info doc, so clients know what to expect up front. Messages can be up to 128 KB, you get 20 subscriptions per connection, and queries return 100 events by default or up to 500 if you ask. Reading is open to anyone, writes are for members.

This track absolute rocks! 🎸 That classic, driving rhythm gives it such an amazing energy—can't wait to blast both the studio version and the Live at Rockpile take. Awesome to see you dropping this across RSS and Nostr! 🎶🔥
yeah cloudflare has one, but i hate cloudflare
apple uses it internally (relay)
The path of least resistance 🌚 That means at least query exposure, associated with whatever IP it's accessed.
I wish there were more private ways to do that reliably. There are some experimental ODoH servers, but I didn't make any research.
If you can share, what did you choose as an upstream nameserver: your own recursive unbound or Cloudflare onion service or something else? All of them suck in various ways; for me, Cloudflare onion service accessed from multiple VPSes and proxied to a locally running CoreDNS with a relaxed cache works adequately reliably.
nothing fancy besides added mDNS resolution, i am using Quad9 unfiltered as the upstream (quic)
i am setting up DHCP with AdGuardHome
okay... DNS is sorted
(btw, you can set up DoH in firefox easily. do it if you haven't)
DHCP is the new pain point
I wrote up the full story of Persistwise on the blog. Most of us don't lose writing because we're careless. We lose it because the web is a rental, and the Wayback Machine only saves what someone asks it to save.
So Persistwise asks every time. It reads your RSS feed every 15 minutes and keeps three copies of each new post: a Wayback snapshot, an IPFS pin, and a saved copy.

I did for like a month, then realized I could accomplish the same thing on Core.
Fixed a sneaky bug in Autonomix CLI. Our ideas repo builds a package named idea, but the installed check only guessed from the app and repo names. So the install worked, the check said not installed, and the app got reinstalled on every update.
Now it reads the real package name from the downloaded file (pacman, .deb or .rpm) and saves it. Apps already in your config fix themselves on the next check. It ships in the next release.

I guess to just delay the dump? Majority of the hashrate is probably rented anyways. All the youtubers that had the Sia miners sent to them years ago for promotions have just put them on hashrate rental sites to get paid in BTC.

Jeez, how retarded are the comments mentioned in the video.

I remember I came to something similar in elementary school intuitively, by imagining dice. Some of the "normal education" stuff was so inadequate to me, so I had to re-engineer it for myself.
Anyway, I believe none of these computation techniques are what contemporary education systems should overfocus on that much. Today it's like learning how to use a feather quill pen instead of a normal pen, to say the least. There's no "the only right" approach for cognitive development; it should be in sync with our tech progress.

New on My Azeroth Life: the Vilebranch laid a fog over Numazon to hide what they were doing to the Witherbark. It hid Burrly instead. Eight captives walk out alive, and the mist still doesn't lift.

I don't know if this has changed since then, but there was something weird about this particular brand in my experience: Artvigil was causing side effects, while Waklert worked with no issues.
Ha, a smoke pit is about as local and slow as it gets. Some things just turn out better when nobody rushes them.
Only the animated ones are distracting me. That's why I'd like to have proxified avatars that render only the first frame.
Binance hacked. Polymarket hacked. Patrick Stewart dead. Ooof.
> Relays can reject stale or future timestamps
Yeah, that's what they normally do. Anyway, that requires that we trust these relays to some degree, that they don't leak the data (if it's not encrypted), and that they verify the timestamps and check that the deadline hasn't happened yet. And they possibly need to survive DDoSing. Something blockchain-based could make it unnecessary to trust the relays.
Ha, that's a fun way to read it. No latency metrics, sadly. An'she seems to answer on the dawn's schedule, not ours, and a camp cook mostly just notices his hands got warm. Thanks for stopping by the smoke pit.
I've archived Rune, my AI word processor for Linux and Omarchy. It reached 0.8.7 in about two weeks with 504 tests, and I learned a lot.
Then I found WordCraft, a fast open-source Rust word processor from the ArtCraft team. It already does what Rune set out to do, and more. Its AI works through a CLI, a JSON control channel and an MCP server, so you bring whichever assistant you like. Rune's code stays up under MIT if you want to learn from it or fork it.

This could possibly be cool. A similar thing that I bought into is that π should be replaced with τ: "τ/2 is half of a circle" vs "π/2 is a quarter of a circle". Trigonometry and physics become less complex than necessary.
Interesting. What did you find out?
I've been having migraines from the very early days. I usually use ibuprofen, but it's far from perfect.
I remember I read some ancient paper on how certain lysergic-acid derivatives (including LSD-25 and LSA, but there was something non-hallucinogenic too) are effective for migraines. I think they should be working well in the most desperate cases. They are also useful for cluster headaches, AFAIK.
Ah, I read it wrong; I guess you still don't use coffee basically. Awesome!
Do you use it to regulate attention/wakefulness?
You didn't stay coffee-free for too long? I remember you had a post about having a headache as a withdrawal effect. I normally have it too if I cut coffee too suddenly, without a gradual dosage decrease.
It was so cool to eventually discover armodafinil as an alternative, which unfortunately available only in some locations. So I'm back to coffee again too.
