Last Notes
How is that implemented? Substack sees your australian IP and forces you to log in and connect your ID with your account? Or is it just cloudflare?
Who runs it, the main guy (@miljan) is missing from the companies list, I guess it's useful to list him, too.
I'll look at Quill, thanks for the tip. It's a different problem on nostr that you have to build the product to find out there's another one doing exactly the same :)
I didn't know this product. Does it include a local relay listening on localhost? I want to reference all options a user has to back up their content.
Yes, right. I'll distribute the deletion events instead of deleted notes. I should explicitly query for deleted events to know if a relay has forgotten a note or it was deleted, then act accordingly.
It's also valid: if I already crawled back to the beginning, I should display the oldest timestamp, it's a low hanging fruit. I'll do it.
I want to take Nostropus in a direction to be a play-around and fix-around client. Stay tuned :)
Good points, thanks! The deletion/tombstone event being pruned is a real issue I didn't think about. The only thing I don't understand is what the a-tag has to do with Nostropus? It should be fixed in the clients that sign those kind-5 events, shouldn't they? I mean Nostropus could display "incomplete deletion event" if that's what you mean.
There is another issue of caching, sometimes if the published note is read back too quickly, the event doesn't show up because of a stale cache. I myself never had this issue with nos.lol, I've always seen it as a very good quality relay.
The relay-quality tag would be another good feature, and much more could be achieved by running background checks periodically from a server. Like nostr.watch
Thanks for your input, greatly appreciated!
Yes, they are a great fit. I should display that next to the "add tmp relay" button I guess.
I've had some experience now with big popular relays. Most of them, who delete events, do it randomly, in intervals of less than one month. It seems manual to me.
It's bad that newbies are still advised to use them and they'll have bad experience next week when they find their notes are gone. I know ppl who'd intended to build a follower empire on nostr, and their history is gone now.
Handling event deletions properly still needs some love in Nostropus.
Thanks! Mobile display will be addressed soon, together with other changes.
nos.lol was the only relay to keep my oldest notes, and now I have them backed up. The only relay to keep my notes for years. Thank you, nos.lol!
But now all old notes are gone from nos.lol. If you didn't back them up, they are gone. If you care for all your notes, there is a little tool that copies all your notes to all your relays, https://nostropus.com
Now you can add relays manually to save them to an additional relay as well.
Honest question: if naming (what currently DNS is) is an impossible problem to solve in a decentralized way, how are we going to solve the problem of distributing Earth's resources without a world government?
Hmm.
Hey! Congrats! Wish you to enjoy the ride!
Glad for the intention!
Please also consider FIPS and a relay running on the PC to sync with mobile.
The advantage: when PC and mobile are on the same LAN, it connects directly, saving a round-trip to the Internet and back, which is a game changer when decrypting DMs for example.
Actually, nostr-relay-tray does something like that (at least there is a PR).
finally, some decent nostr UI!

Power can corrupt you, but also you can tame the power and use it for good; power is not inherently bad.
You can't control what others use social media for, but you can use it as you like and let others be inspired by it.
Or you can build a community on Anagram and identify with your community instead of yourself as individual. Then build communities of communities. Possibilities are endless.
@npub1c87…8avm where are the issues reported on anagram? Is there a development chat / forum?
I have issues when wanting to specify my own relays for my own private group. Its a nice vision to have a single UI connect to many different relay sets completely unaware of each other.
Have to defend my point. Look at https://nostropus.com for a vibed, but not-so-ordinary user experience.
Time to post invite for group "Group Testers". :)
zzub worked for me from zapstore android. (no desktop app installed).

Just in case you and your agents want to copy a feature from a native app.

I've been looking at your notes via https://nostropus.com (takes quite a while to load them all).
They are quite scattered among relays, there are still a lot from the old days that are stored on a single relay.
How does ants index notes? does it go through all configured relays?
Have a look at my tool that visualizes censorship! https://nostropus.com - have fun!
Stop overengineering! The solution is easy!

I have all the music I bought in the last 20 years on my disk. It's invaluable to have it on disk.
Now I'm looking forward to share this directory to my friends via FIPS.
Using web of trust to allow in new listeners using npubs to authorize. So I just "let my friend listen to my music". A software that shares my catalog. An agent that optionally makes recommendations based on what I openscrobbled before. Who I can tell "never fucking play a song twice on the same day".
Nostruccok, jöjjünk össze!
