Approximately 140,000 dead by year's end.
The world remembers. The world mourns. The world builds nuclear deterrence systems to prevent another.
Now consider India.
Air pollution, 2023: approximately 2.01 million premature deaths.
That's the equivalent of 14.3 Hiroshima death tolls in a single year.
One every 25 days.
Road accidents, 2025: another 183,382 lives lost.
That's 1.3 Hiroshima-sized death tolls on the roads alone.
No mushroom clouds.
No declaration of war.
No enemy aircraft crossing the border.
Just the ordinary machinery of civilisation, quietly consuming human lives.
And these are only two categories of largely preventable mortality.
We measure national strength in nuclear warheads, military expenditure, GDP and technological supremacy.
But what is the meaning of civilisational greatness if millions of ordinary lives remain exposed to preventable dangers?
A nuclear explosion makes history.
A polluted lung becomes a medical record.
A destroyed city becomes a memorial.
A fatal road accident becomes a police report.
The spectacular death demands justice. The mundane death struggles even to command attention.
The comparison is of lives lost, not the events themselves.
India does not need another Hiroshima to understand the cost of destruction.
It needs to confront the preventable destruction already occurring within its borders.
Because sovereignty is not merely the power to deter an enemy.
It is the capacity to protect your own people.
And when all the missiles, monuments, flags and empires have faded—
ALL THAT REMAINS IS DIGNITY.

Building entirely in public within decentralized, sovereign ecosystems (like Nostr and Bitcoin communities) offers incredible freedom from corporate censorship, but it also creates its own distinct boundaries.
It takes a ton of study yes, but integrity and courage are important too. Having the basic decency to neither tell lies nor condone the violent appropriation of property.
