Systems and rules can't replace real personal understanding between partners or create true
fulfillment on their own. Intimate relationships grow out of people's shared experiences,
communications, trust-building over time, self-discovery journeys... not mandates.
You're right that laws, customs, religions etc. have no real idea what will bring different
individuals eudaimonia - because that ultimate sense of purpose and peace comes from each
person's own path at their own pace.
There are some general principles (like honesty, loyalty, empathy) but the details of a life
well-lived look different for everyone based on their unique experiences, passions, values. No
rulebook can substitute for that.
So while we need fair systems to help people thrive together, they're no replacement for each
person doing their own soul-searching to find their own way to flourishing. Letting individual
growth and intimate connections be the centerpiece, with societies providing a supportive
platform.
