It is not. The UAE have been telling everyone in the West for years what their policies would result in.
They've been purchasing Rafale jets, so yeah. Apparently, that's more important than France burning.
And they say we don't have enough addictive content.

I should have phrased 5 more like an argument (because liking Amber is not an argument against supporting an alternative, I like Amber myself too!), because perhaps people who say that in fact want to say something like:
"I think every person should have a phone with Amber installed and only use Nostr apps from that phone and the absolute requirement for ever thinking about using Nostr is that you have to first install Zapstore then Amber and promise you'll never uninstall that, never lose your phone to someone that will steal your key, and that you'll keep a paper or steel backup of your nsec at home at all times."
People making new apps, why aren't you adding Pomegranate support?
1) I didn't know it existed (now you know);
2) I think it has a fatal flaw (please say what is it);
3) I am phisophically opposed to Google (Pomegranate supports other providers, and even no providers at all, it can even be made to support phone numbers, a single password, an email, a set of friends' keys, you name it, but none of that is active yet because there is not enough interest);
4) I think users have to be trained to type private keys everywhere;
5) I like Amber (I've heard this one before so I included it here even though it makes no sense).

I can never even read Reddit, because... "You've been blocked by network security." ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
"There has grown up in the minds of certain groups in this country the notion that because a man or corporation has made a profit out of the public for a number of years, the government and the courts are charged with the duty of guaranteeing such profit in the future, even in the face of changing circumstances and contrary public interest. This strange doctrine is not supported by statute nor common law. Neither individuals nor corporations have any right to come into court and ask that the clock of history be stopped, or turned back..."

Herdr looks like it could fit the bill. Thanks!
I'm asking, because I'm looking into options for moving from my simple OpenCode setup to orchestrating a bunch of agents.
However, one of my requirements is to have no OpenAI/Anthropic or other closed/proprietary products in the stack. I want my agents to be able to use both OpenRouter (or Routstr) and self-hosted models, depending on my privacy and performance requirements.

Anyone here running a Gas City for their agent orchestration (or tried it out before)?

Pro tip: While a lot of accounting software doesn't support BTC properly, plain-text accounting doesn't care what you count in. So I'm using hledger for native BTC accounting for a couple of groups/projects.
Bonus: Plain-text accounting is absolutely perfect for LLMs to work with (both read and write), so with the latest open weight models you can also do this with the privacy you deserve. (I'm using Ternary Bonsai 2 for example.)

I honestly don't even understand why you would need the latest American model for most regular programming work. DeepSeek v4.1 Flash has been doing an absolutely solid job for me so far. Sure, it could always be even better, but you can also just wait a few weeks for the open weight models to catch up.
"Choose your battles wisely" is obviously not your life credo.
My weekend project: an hledger plugin for Discourse.
https://meta.discourse.org/t/hledger-plugin-render-plain-text-accounting-journals-in-topics/413437
There's no shared budget that I wouldn't account for using hledger these days. With Discourse, you can share your ledgers with others, and even have them add entries by turning a ledger topic into a wiki topic (with diff history and all).

End of a 6 month cybersecurity mentorship programme, and giving credit to the two, smart, dedicated, talented and hard-working people that I have been mentoring.

Note to self: Never agree to do a weekend podcast for a company. Especially on an international travel day. Will see if they can reschedule it. On that note, their views are so low according to public view counts that I don't worry too much about preparing.
I didn't mean that in a UX way only. There's no point filling up an inbox that is meant for, uh... mail, with stuff that is not mail.
@npub1wht…r3ec Multiple issues with my White Noise first-time experience today:
1. The app entry advertised in Zapstore was for a wrong (old?) ID and never resolved to any version on the app page. Might want to get that fixed there, as it's uninstallable that way.
2. I can't finish onboarding, because a) it claims the Damus relay from my mailbox list is retired, so it doesn't want to use it (but the relay is actually working) and b) it wants to overwrite my mailbox list, but when trying to "choose relays" other than the two recommended ones, it doesn't show my current ones. I think a messaging app shouldn't overwrite relays used for social media in the first place. Why not just start with the recommended relays, and then let the user change the relays just for the app, instead of their whole mailboxes list?
At this point, I'm not giving any app the permission to publish personal metadata events without asking. Which is absolutely abysmal UX for newcomers and anyone who isn't a tech person.
Did anyone ever come up with a halfway reasonable solution to this problem?
#nevent1q…dhuy
What protocol is it based on? Just says "Signal-style double-ratchet", but not what it would interoperate with.
Just turn off push notifications entirely? I don't understand why you want them to fill up your email inboxes.
how did you post this? how many accounts do you have in the extension?
Why email? I don't even have email on the phone. It's supposed to be *mail*, i.e. asynchronous and slow.
Just had an AI cybersecurity startup ask for a call to have me on a BOD (board of directors) and I am at a stage where I am not sure how people get me on their radar, but how far deep someone would come up with a fake profile and company (he looks legit).
Republicans aren't Nazis. This is rather obvious.
Also, they all fled to Taiwan and still have a liberal democracy there to this day. You should go sometime and learn about the history.
The others don't have to agree on the time if they still trust the master key anyway.
Works pretty well! I just don't have anyone DMing me via Nostr and I'm not using agents via messaging interfaces. 😅
I think my biggest gripe is that the UI and text are tiny on my high-res screens. I guess a manual scaling setting (100%, 125%, 150%, 200%) would be the easiest solution without accounting for every platform and desktop environment.
One small issue with the profile tab: it doesn't show my name, so it's likely not accounting for the various different name properties that other clients support.
That still doesn't explain why someone would need the timestamp instead of just ignoring revocations when the use case doesn't fit.
I think you seem to be thinking about very specialized use cases, like actual IRL contracts signed with Nostr keys, which are currently not really a thing in production, and which could still prescribe timestamps in their own protocols.
> If X's self-declared created_at is treated as authoritative, then X can sign a revocation today that's dated last year and retroactively disown a year of events that counterparties relied on.
Yes, that should be the design decision to begin with. If I know my key was compromised in the past, I want to revoke trust up to a point in time of my choosing.
In related news, these people have condensed Qwen3.8-27B into a 7GB model and it works exactly as advertised:
https://huggingface.co/prism-ml/Ternary-Bonsai-2-27B-gguf
🤯
P.S.: Maybe not entirely useless, but it's irrelevant if the revocation was signed using a compromised X or not.
It's not double-spend, because Y can never spend anything that X signs. Order is irrelevant. We can just trust X's `created_at` in the revocation event.
If we don't trust X anymore, then the revocation itself is useless anyway.
Tried DeepSeek 4.1 Flash today. Worked on 5 PRs, covering the productive part of my day, spent only $1.11 on it.
The experience was at least on par with the last flagship model I tried, if not slightly better. If I had billions riding on proprietary LLMs, I'd probably also try to make everything else illegal.
With yay. But never mind, the icon is there now. Was just some weird delay with GNOME picking it up a bit slower than usual.
Installed on Arch. Seems like no desktop icon was added...
It is if you decouple identity and make objects portable.
In Italy for just over a week before I fly to Dubai. Going to just focus more on just being creative - watercolors, gouache, clay modelling, chalk, and acrylic markers.
In between, I'm packing up hopefully 2 checkin luggage with the rest of my items, including this antique globe with a compartment inside for small bottles of liquor that I bought in 2022 but haven't been able to bring with me.
Also going to do a post writeup of travels.
Add to that the debt-to-GDP ratio of more than 200%, i.e. pretty much impossible to repay in the current system.
Waiting for our flight, drinking a sauvignon blanc. Italy, France and Switzerland represent.
Had a nice weekend in Florida Keys and Miami.
Back to Europe!
