“According to a new report by the UN (linked to) Independent International Commission of Inquiry, the Israelis “continue to commit genocidal acts with the genocidal intent to destroy, in whole or in part, the Palestinians in Gaza” despite the so-called ceasefire. The report also states that they have “committed the crimes against humanity of extermination, torture, rape and other forms of sexual violence in the West Bank since 7 October 2023.”

U.S. strike on boat in Pacific kills five people: The U.S. military attacked what it said was a drug-smuggling boat in the eastern Pacific on Tuesday, killing five people. U.S. Southern Command claimed that “intelligence revealed the vessel’s active involvement in narcotrafficking,” without providing any evidence underlying the intelligence. It published a video on X that shows a small boat enveloped by an explosion. Since the U.S. military began targeting what it calls “narcoterrorists” in September 2025, it has killed more than 240 people in more than 70 attacks.

#Egyptian court orders closure of leading news outlet Mada Masr, detains editor: An Egyptian court continued its attack on Mada Masr on Tuesday, convicting its editor-in-chief and co-founder Lina Attalah on the charge of running an unlicensed website. The court ordered the closure of the publication, took Attalah into custody, and fined her 3 million Egyptian pounds (about $50,000). Mada Masr is one of the country’s last remaining independent news organizations. The rulings followed a sham one-day trial in which Attalah’s legal requests to present documents and call witnesses were rejected, after which the court appointed an unknown attorney in place of her existing legal team. The outlet, which was founded in 2013, has repeatedly applied for licensure, but has received no response from Egyptian authorities. The Committee to Protect Journalists condemned the ruling, calling Mada Masr “a vital source of critical reporting” and the decision a “devastating blow to press freedom in Egypt.”
