"You don't only pay tax when you cash your Bitcoin back into the bank." That's one of the biggest misconceptions this panel clears up, as Shukry Haleemdeen, a chartered management accountant and crypto tax specialist, walks through what UK Bitcoin holders actually need to know.

UK Focus — Tax & Regulatory Landscape, Strategies in Savings, Donations & Charity Organisations

Hosted by Hasnain Dhalla, with Shukry Haleemdeen, founder of My Crypto Tax, who has worked in crypto tax since 2014.

Shukry explains how your tax depends on what you do with your Bitcoin, from capital gains for most holders to income tax for mining and staking and corporation tax for companies, and which moves count as a taxable event. He covers what HMRC can already see, including the new Crypto-Asset Reporting Framework, and the rule changes he expects in 2027.

The panel then turns to the community: how businesses can accept Bitcoin, and why mosques and charities, which don't pay capital gains tax, have a real opportunity to accept Bitcoin donations, including zakat, as long as they take security and record-keeping seriously.

Watch the full session:

https://youtu.be/g0UqM4emXwg

Subscribe, like and share on YouTube, we're uploading a new session every day!

Full MBS26London playlist: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLaYwlHDGyJEI&si=24WTARcb7_h0n9A3

#MBS26London #Bitcoin #Tax #EscapeRiba

For GrapheneOS this only happens on screens tall enough to fit the whole phone.
- A small fix in Linux: the laptop drawing made phone screens scroll sideways by a few pixels.

Latest updates to the Sats Simulator Bitcoin learning game:

Some minor bugs have been fixed and features have been added in Sats Simulator. The shared improvements have been been added to all four simulators.

Sats Simulator fixes:

1. “Watch it” link: it now opens the mempool. The swipe-to-dismiss on toasts was swallowing clicks on links inside them.

2. “What do I do next?”: every mission step now has a short hint saying where and how to do it.
- “Go” (shown as “Continue” once a mission is started) takes you to the screen for your next step, and opens the right tab.
- A slim bar at the top of that screen shows the mission, the step and the hint, with a “Take me there” button when you’re elsewhere and an × to hide it.
- For Fees and the mempool, it now opens the phone wallet and says to send with the Slow fee.

3. Flip coins to make a seed:
- “Use my words” now stays visible after the seed is finished, so you don’t need Start over.
- New Heads (1) and Tails (0) buttons let people enter real coin flips. A note says to only do this for a real seed on an offline device.

4. “Your coins” step completes as soon as you open the tab (bug): opening the tab no longer completes the step. The step is now “Combine small coins when fees are low” and completes when you actually combine.
- If you have fewer than two coins, a “Receive three small tips” button gives you some to combine.

5. Combining coins says “when fees are low”, but they aren’t: there’s a new Quiet period button (on the coins card, in the mempool and in facilitator settings). Miners clear the backlog and fees stay at 1–2 sat/vB for a few blocks, so a cheap combine confirms in the next block. When fees are busy, the coins card says so and points to it.

6. Hardware wallet device scrolls out of view (layout): the device stays pinned on screen while you scroll Sats Desktop on laptop and desktop screens. On phones it stays stacked above as before.

7. Multisig spend summary only shows the start and end of the address: the spend shows the full address in the message and in the payment, in 4-character chunks, with a reminder to check every chunk on each device.

8. Running out of Lightning sats (feature): you can now add sats to your side of an open channel without closing it (a “splice-in”).
- From the phone wallet: +25,000, +50,000 or +100,000 in the Lightning section.
- From the hardware wallet: a new card 5 in Sats Desktop, signed on the device.
- The sats join your side after one confirmation, and the “Not enough outbound liquidity” message now has a “Top up my channel” button.

"Becomings are virtuous because they increase one's capacities, exceeding the organic, the signifying, and the strata of subjectification in a becoming-imperceptible, becoming-indiscernible, and becoming-impersonal. This is a perceptual semiotics that allows one to create the new"

quoting
nevent1q…jhzj
"What aIl bodies without organs have in common is intensity. Intensities can only form a continuum, unlike extensities, which can only form discrete points. If one's ontology begins with discrete objects, then one is very likely to end up with a discontinuous ontology and privilege stasis over change. If, on the other hand, one begins with intensities, the ontology flattens, becomes continuous. Here the new is possible. Here creation is possible. Here becoming is not subordinated to being."

we have 2 Harith POVs now. and this one has our first bit of action.

as always, feedback is appreciated.

quoting
naddr1qq…7d6d

The city received them without acknowledgment.

He could watch her face when it was turned toward the dead. He had been doing it since the morning light, reading her stops and what crossed her face at them, because she could not tell him what she found and he had decided to learn it this way. But when her face turned toward him, he was quick to look back at the street.

The maintenance grid gave him places to put his eyes. Every settlement since the coast had carried its traces — cleared paths, braced walls, the patient work of preservation — and Damascus had more of it, and denser. A wall braced with material that had not come from the ruin. A corridor cleared through collapse, too straight to be accident. Templex units had worked these streets recently. That was a fact he could hold, which was more than he could say for the touch. He still did not know whether it had happened in the dream or in the room.

His comms were dark, which made him invisible to network traffic. It did not make him invisible to a unit at close range. The suit’s local compute had been mapping the signs of machine activity since the city’s edge and predicted safe routes along his peripheral display. He followed them and kept his eyes on the intersections ahead.

<< Maintenance unit. 60 m. Crossing. >>

Beyond the wall to their right. His foresight had given him no warning of it. Machines carried no weight there. They never had.

Margan was half a step ahead of him. He reached to draw her into the doorway at their left — the drill Axis had built into him for whoever walked at his side — and his hand stopped short of her sleeve.

She looked at the hand. Then at him.

He took it back and stepped into the doorway alone.

She did not move at once. Her eyes went to the wall he was watching, and back to him. He had his back flat to the stone and his eyes on the display, and he did not look away from it. She crossed the street and stepped into the doorway beside him. There was not much room in it.

The track ran along the far side of the wall and turned toward the gap where the wall had fallen. The unit came through the gap riding a meter above the ground. No sound reached him through the suit. The dust beneath it lifted and settled with no wind to move it. It stopped at the foot of the collapse, raised a fallen block, turned it once, and set it back in the course it had fallen from, exactly, the way the braced walls were exact. Then it moved on down the street and out of the display’s range.

Margan had watched it the whole way. Her face did not do what it did for the dead. It was the look she gave empty ground. Then she turned to him and pointed at the doorway they were standing in, and at him.

"Lama?"

He did not have a word for what it was in any language she knew. He pointed after the unit, then at the set stone, the braced wall, the cleared corridor — all of it its work. He touched two fingers beneath his eyes and turned them toward the street.

"Ra’a," he said. Then he pointed at his own chest. "Harith — la."

She turned the word over. Then she looked at him for longer than he could meet, and nodded.

When they stepped back into the street she walked half a pace behind his shoulder instead of ahead of it, and she watched the intersections the way he watched them. He did not think she knew what she was watching for. She watched anyway, and he thought she was doing it for him.

She moved differently in the city streets than she had in the open. Yesterday she had walked with the ease of someone following an interior map that roughly corresponded to the physical terrain. Here she moved more slowly, stopping at intervals that had nothing to do with physical obstacles or his templex avoidance. He had stopped expecting her route to correspond to what his suit prompted and had started treating her directional choices as primary data. She had not been wrong yet.

What she was following, he understood gradually, was the grief the zone had carried since the coast — but denser here, more specific. Voices he could almost distinguish if he stood still long enough. He did not stand still long enough. His foresight was not that exceptional yet.

Watching her, he had come to believe she perceived at a level beyond any node’s. She navigated the physical city with efficiency — around structural hazards, through passages his suit confirmed were passable — but her attention moved between the city he could see and the one he couldn’t.

At one point she stopped at a courtyard wall and placed both hands flat against the stone, eyes closed. When she turned back there was grief in her face, and the look of someone trusted with a thing she had not asked for. She touched the stone once more and released it.

Her stops became more frequent as they moved deeper into the city. He took it to mean the dead were thicker in the old streets; he could only read it in what she did — the frequency of her pauses, the attention she gave to points that looked to him like any other empty ground. She spoke quietly at certain places without directing it at him. Not to him. To whoever was in that space. He gave her room for this and kept his eyes on the approaches.

As they walked further into the city the terrain changed. Buildings that should have been here were fields of flattened rubble.

The color of the earth was different from anything they had walked through — darker, burnt, the surface carrying the texture of soil that had been heated past what soil can survive and cooled into a crust that was no longer soil exactly. Dust in some places, something like glass in others. Even through his suit's filtration the metallic smell pinched at his nose.

He knew what this was before the rim appeared.

The suit warned of the highest readings since he'd entered the zone, the life support compensating visibly in his display. He looked at Margan standing at the rim beside him. The suit's biometric scan had been returning the same answer for her since the plaza: no thermal signature, no metabolic activity, no radiation exposure. No one without a suit like his should have been able to stand here for long.

The crater opened below them. He did not need the overlay that was providing the crater's dimensions. The hole was in front of him. More than a hundred meters deep and the better part of a kilometer across. The walls of it descending into a darkness in places that even the morning light did not reach. The rim was sharp where the blast had cut the earth and rough where nearly a century of weather had softened it, and at the edge where they stood the cross-section lay open: foundation layers, pipe systems, the compressed strata of neighborhoods that had been above ground when the detonation occurred and were now part of the crater wall.

Nothing stood inside it. Nothing had been maintained. The templex rebuilding did not extend past the rim. The machines had nothing here to preserve. It was all a grave.

The crater was a wound his foresight could feel, so concentrated it had a gravity of its own. The dead in the streets had come to him dispersed, one presence and then another. These did not come one at a time. They came as a single weight pressed into the ground with everything else — too many lives ended in the same instant for him to tell one from another.

He wanted to walk the rim, to understand the wound from its edges. But she did not follow as he stepped forward along the perimeter. She stood where he had left her, her face holding the expression he had seen only once before — in the dream. The streets had slowed her. This stopped her.

She looked at him. Then down at the crater. Then she turned south, away from the rim. He followed her. The crater stayed behind them. He did not look back.

The city's ruins resumed east of the blast radius — damaged but standing, structures that had survived by being far enough to remain structures rather than becoming part of the crater wall. They walked through them without speaking. The morning was full of warm air and the zone's haze pressed flat across the rooftops that remained. She did not stop at any of the dead in these blocks. He did not know whether there were none, or whether she could not take more.

He kept the route. The suit's mapping showed increased activity in the eastern streets — the maintenance grid thickening as they moved toward the old city's core.

The minarets appeared above the ruins before the mosque itself did. Two of them were standing. The third — the white one, east on the old maps — had collapsed. He saw the truncated base before he registered the absence against the skyline, and understood from the absence what had stood there. He had studied it standing, rising above the others. What remained was rubble at the base, a shaft ending abruptly, and the sky where the rest of it should have been.

He stopped.

Margan stopped beside him. She looked at the two standing minarets, and then at his stillness, and said a few low words in her own language. He had heard her say them before, at places where something had been lost. He took them as acknowledgment — a way of not walking past without marking it.

He nodded. They moved on.

The mosque's perimeter showed careful templex work — repairs along the outer walls, cleared approaches, the signs of a site the machines had been instructed to maintain. He moved them more slowly and kept to the walls, checking each intersection before committing. He could read the machines' nearness in the evidence of their work.

Margan was ahead of him when she stopped. Not the way she stopped at the dead in the streets — the receiving expression, the directed speech. Here she turned and faced him and moved to block his path, her body between him and whatever she was reading in the space ahead. She did not touch him. She did not need to. The posture said everything: not here, not this way.

She did not move.

She was facing him, and it was not the face she wore for the city’s dead. Her shoulders had come down from where the crater had put them. She stood in the corridor the way she stood during his prayers — present, attending — and whatever lay behind her, he did not think it was pain.

She turned them east through a different passage. He followed without asking.

The courtyard opened before them. Margan stopped at its edge and did not cross immediately. He watched her take it in. The open space, maintained and swept. The colonnades running along the sides. The orientation of everything — walls, arches, the mihrab visible through the prayer hall's open face — toward a single direction. The direction he faced when he prayed.

She looked at the courtyard. Then at him. Then at the direction everything faced.

"Bayit?" she said.

He understood what she was asking. Not house — she could see this was larger than a house. The word carried what the psalm had given it.

"Masjid," he said. He inclined his forehead to indicate prostration.

"Bayit Maran," she said. Not a question this time. A confirmation.

"Na'am," he said.

She walked the courtyard end to end, twice. He watched her from the perimeter — her movement through the space, her stops, the way she turned slowly, as if the air around her were written on and only she could read it. The stone kept her longer than any ruin in the city had.

"Qodesh," she said. The holiness word from her psalm, from their exchange in the shelter.

"Al-Quds," he confirmed, and pointed southeast.

She looked southeast, and back at the mosque, as if measuring the distance between them.

"Am — Harith — masjid?" she said. Your people — this place?

He gestured at the courtyard, at the qibla direction, at himself. "Umma," he said. Centuries of a community praying in this direction, in this place, in buildings like this one. She watched his hands measure the centuries. Then she pointed at herself.

"Am — Margan — bayit — Dammeseq."

He caught the words he knew. Her people. A house. This city. He looked from the mosque to her. Both communities had built a house for their covenant. One was standing. One was not.

"Na'am," he said.

The word bayit was the same word they had used for the roofless house where they had spent the night. It was the same word she had used for this courtyard. And now it was the word for what her people had built in this city that was no longer here, and he was standing beside the one that was. He looked at the mosque with her standing beside it, nothing behind her but the ruins.

She nodded once, and kept looking at the mosque after the nod was finished. They stood at the perimeter together for a moment. Then they continued east.

The suburbs opened around them as they left the old city behind — lower ruins, wider streets, the architecture being more recent than the mosque's. They walked without speaking. The dead were present here too but less concentrated, and she stopped less frequently, her attention directed forward.

The morning had passed. The sun was above them and he knew what that meant. He found flat ground and prayed Dhuhr with the noon light above and Margan beside the prayer as she had been at Fajr. When he rose and looked east, the dome was there — green and intact on the skyline, catching the full light and returning it radiantly. She was already looking at it.

The green surface intact above the surrounding devastation, the shrine standing in the eastern suburbs with a completeness that nothing else in Damascus had managed. The templex concentration here was the highest of anywhere they had passed: fresh repair on the outer walls, the approaches cleared and maintained in both directions. He checked the sight lines carefully before moving and found nothing in their immediate paths. He kept checking.

She did not go toward the entrance at once. He watched her read the site, and at the edge of his own foresight he felt why it was different from the mosque. The mosque had depth, centuries of prayer laid down in it. This had a single presence, anchored, that had not dispersed.

He stayed at the entrance. What Margan needed from this place he could neither assist with nor translate, and the interior's narrow sight lines made the risk of their being caught by a templex unit less manageable. He positioned himself where he could see both the entrance and the approaches and let her go in.

She was inside for a long time.

He kept his watch. Zaynab bint Fatima. The name arrived while he checked the eastern approach. Granddaughter of the Prophet. He scanned the western sight line. Witness to Karbala — the massacre, the testimony that was meant to die in the desert with them. He checked the eastern approach again. She had survived. Had been taken captive to this city. Had spoken before the man who ordered her brother's death and had made certain the testimony traveled.

He stood at the entrance and thought about Margan's people. A community that had also organized itself around a death that changed everything. That had also carried its testimony past the people who wanted it silenced.

When she came out she stood in the entrance a moment before she looked at him. Her face had the look he had seen after the Shema in the night — an opening — but larger now, and less surprised by itself.

She came to where he was standing and looked at him with a deliberateness that was different. Then she said two words she had not put together before:

"Muhammad — bayit?"

She gestured back at the shrine.

He held up one finger. "Muhammad." A second. "Fatima — bint Muhammad." He hoped bint sat close enough to her own word for daughter. A third finger, and he turned his hand toward the dome. "Zaynab." He joined the three fingers together. "Ahl al-bayt."

She found her own word inside his. "Bayit," she said. Then, slowly, testing it: "Am — bayit."

"Na’am."

Then she placed one hand on her own chest and made the gesture they had built between them for her people — the gathering, the covenant, the city. She pointed at the shrine.

He looked at the shrine and back at her. He thought about what both communities had been formed to do — the work of being the witness who lives through the catastrophe and carries its testimony into a world that would rather it not arrive. The covenant that persists past the death of the one who sealed it.

"Shahida," he said. Not as a question.

She said it back. Then, slowly, with the surprisingly clean diction of someone delivering something whole — she said: "Sabr."

He recognized it immediately. Patience. Endurance.

It was not a word they had shared before. He had not given it to her. The way she held it in her mouth was not the way she held any of the words he had taught her. It sounded to him like a word that had been said to her, and that she was saying back.

He looked at her.

"Sabr," he said, confirming.

"Sabr," she said again.

They continued southeast. She looked back at the dome once. The green glimmered in the afternoon light for another moment and then the street turned and it was behind them.

The city gave up its dead gradually, the way the ruins gave up their layers — one at a time, each with its own weight. Margan received each one, walked on, and received the next. He watched it gather in her face, and it gathered differently than it had in the morning. She was steadier under it. He thought of the word she had brought out of the shrine.

She stopped at a building whose outer wall had partially survived — four stories of pre-Excursion construction still standing, the rest collapsed inward, the modern materials failing with nobody left to maintain them. At the wall's base she placed one hand against it and stood for four minutes, her eyes open and not looking at the wall but through it. He covered the approaches. A track crossed the intersection thirty meters ahead — fresh tire marks in the dust. He calculated an adjustment to their route without comment.

When she came back she looked at him and did not speak. She did not try to give him any of it, and he did not ask. They moved on.

She stopped again further southeast, at an intersection wider than the streets they had been walking, the ruins making its original shape difficult to read. In its center she did not move toward any wall, did not reach toward anything physical. She stood in the open, and the expression that came over her face was not one he had seen at any single grave. It looked to him like many at once — as if the dead here had come back to this place across more than one age. Overlapping voices in a register he could not access.

He stood at the edge of the intersection and maintained his watch.

At ten minutes she was still there. He checked the sight lines. All clear. At twelve minutes he checked them again. At fifteen he shifted his position to cover a new angle and in shifting recognized that his attention had been dividing — half on the approaches, half on her — in the way his training identified as a liability. He corrected it. He kept his eyes on the approaches and registered her in peripheral only. He kept the correction in place for another seven minutes.

At twenty-two minutes she moved.

She did not look at him immediately when she came back. She looked at the collapsed intersection for a moment with the expression of someone finishing a sentence the other person had started. Then she looked at him.

"Lama?" she asked, pointing back at the intersection.

"Harb," he tried. There had been too many wars to explain it all. She didn't have the word, but the consonants seemed to land. She repeated it.

"Harb." Then she pointed at the intersection again and made a layering gesture. "Harb — qadam — harb — qadam?"

He nodded and they continued southeast.

The templex work thinned as they moved deeper into the suburbs — a cleared path, a stabilized wall section, then long stretches of untouched collapse. Fewer machines, but their routes less predictable. He was more watchful. The buildings here had been taller and had fallen further and the rubble fields were wider and less navigable.

She stopped at the outer wall of what had been a residential compound — pre-conflict construction, internal courtyard, family scale. This stop was different from every other. Not with her hands against the stone. Not with the receiving expression. She turned inward — eyes closed, her form going completely still, though nothing about her seemed absent — and after a moment she began to speak.

Not to him. Not at the stone. The cadence was wrong for her brief directed prayer and wrong for what she did at thresholds of loss. This had give and take. Silence in it. She was answering someone.

He stood three meters away and watched the approaches and listened to her hold a conversation with someone he could not see. The suit was listening too.

<< Confidence: 58%. Partial translation available. >>

Fragments arrived in his peripheral display — broken, gapped, the suit catching some of what she was saying and losing the rest. He read what came through:

<< ...yes I see them... [untranslatable]... how many... [untranslatable]... the children... [untranslatable]... I will remember... >>

He stopped reading the display and listened to her voice instead. The fragments were worse than not knowing.

After a long time she stopped speaking. She stood in silence for a further minute. Then she said, without turning toward him, in the voice of someone measuring what remains of their resources: "Sabr."

Not offering it to him. Saying it to herself.

He said nothing. He was not certain she had intended him to hear it.

The light had changed while he was not tracking it — the sun pressing lower from the west now, the ruins casting shadows east across the rubble fields, the afternoon getting late. The suit would ping Asr soon. He looked at the sky and then at the open ground ahead where the city's edge gave way to the wider devastation of the outer zone.

He could feel the shift before the suit caught anything.

The dead's presence did not end — it attenuated, the density thinning the way a crowd thins at the edges of a gathering. What replaced it was not absence. Something that did not grieve — that had been in this territory for a different reason than the dead, and stood in a different relation to being perceived. The dead pressed inward; this watched.

Margan had already stopped.

She was looking at a specific point ahead — a collapsed section of outer wall with a clear line of sight beyond it to the open ground — and she was not doing any of the things she did with the dead. Her posture was alert.

He looked where she was looking. His visor showed ruins, dust, the afternoon light pressing flat across the ground.

Then it showed three anomalous heat signatures.

They were not biological. The readings didn't correspond to any metabolic process, any engine output, any electrical source his suit could identify. They moved toward them with the deliberateness of things that had decided to come and investigate.

The suit’s anomaly sensor, which had been holding its unresolved question about Margan since the morning, produced a reading he had never seen on any display: three simultaneous signals, each distinct, each defying categorization, the system cycling through everything it had and finding nothing adequate and not stopping.

He braced himself for the encounter.

Margan did not move. She was already looking directly at them — not quite where his visor placed the signatures. He trusted her eyes over the display. Her expression was neither fear nor surprise.

The shadows arrived before the forms did. Not from new light sources — the sun hadn't moved — but three distinct shadows extended across the ground ahead with the clear echo of forms that had intention in their motion. The suit's heat sensors cycled. The anomaly indicators flashed.

Margan stood beside him, her attention already given toward them.

The first form resolved from the heat shimmer close on Margan's far side — shifting itself into an oblong mass that remained approximately vertical. The second stayed ahead in constant motion, its heat signature bright and flickering, never holding one configuration. The third came in from his right and stopped farther off, its readings more contained, ovular, and more deliberate.

Through his visor the three thermal anomalies stood as columns across their path, like invisible pillars of fire. Margan’s face told him she was seeing a great deal more than columns.

He reached for them the other way, with his foresight, the way he had felt the crater that morning. It gave him pressure without shape — weight leaning in from multiple directions, none of it resolving into anything he could read. The faculty that had taken in the whole crater could not take in these. He did not know why. He went back to the visor. Its readings were thin, but they were readings, and his training had already given him the word for what the suit could not classify.

The middle one spoke first.

"The suit," the jinn said, in Arabic he could hear and understand. "What is it made of — no, Asqudān, don’t answer, let me—" Its heat signature danced in a rapid arc around Harith, examining him from angles he found deeply uncomfortable. "Nano-fabrication, the thermal profile is consistent, but the communications array is dark — that's deliberate, they cut it! — Interesting choice, very interesting, and his basira is developing but not formed yet, which means—" It stopped directly in front of him, its column of heat shimmer leaning forward with a curiosity rendered physical. He could feel the heat. "Who sent you?"

He said nothing.

"Iddin, he's not going to answer," the one off to his right said in the same Arabic, but more measured. This jinn had a cadence of thinking before it spoke. "He has training. Look at him — he's applying it right now. He's deciding whether you're a threat. He's going to decide you are."

"I'm not a threat," responded the jinn apparently named Iddin. Its tone seemed genuinely confused by the characterization. "I'm curious. Those are different things. The suit is curious. The disabled comms are curious. The—oh." Its heat signature flared briefly. "He came here following the dead woman."

"She is not a dead woman," said the one beside Margan.

This jinn had not moved. Its column of heat shimmer stood at Margan's left — not behind her, beside her. It had the bearing of a thing with an older claim to this ground than any of them, watching how the encounter went. When it continued speaking, Harith caught only the shape of the sounds — not words, nothing in any language he knew. His suit was still scrambling over the heat signature analysis to attempt translating. He caught fragments of an emotional register but the tone was firm, and old.

Margan heard it fully.

He watched her face.

Whatever it said hit her in stages. He watched her hands close — tighter than fists, the fingers pressing into palms that were becoming less solid under the pressure. Her shoulders drew inward. The light around her — the luminescence he had first noticed against his suit's glow — dimmed, pulled inward as if she was drawing everything she had toward her center to hold herself together.

"Waqar is being unkind," Asqudān said.

"I am being accurate," said the one called Waqar, returning to Arabic.

"Those conditions are not mutually exclusive," Asqudān said, "which is precisely the problem."

Iddin had drifted back toward Harith with more of its curiosity. "Your Axis sent you here alone," it said — not a question, working something out. "A node, traveling alone, with disabled comms, through the fallout zone. Either your ring trusts you considerably, or they trust the destination, or—" the heat signature brightened, "—what happened here was not planned."

He looked at the jinn's flickering column and said nothing.

"Very disciplined," Iddin observed, apparently with genuine respect. "For a fourteen-year-old."

"Fifteen," he said, before he could stop himself.

The jinn's heat signature flickered in a way his suit could only represent as fluctuation but that he understood as laughter.

Margan had not moved. The jinn called Waqar was still speaking to her in the strange language — Harith caught rhythms, cadences, the shape of a long assessment being delivered. Her form had begun to lose its certainty, as if what held her together was being spent faster than she could replenish it.

He could hear in the rhythms of the jinn's address that it had become a conversation. Margan was responding in the register he couldn't access. He could hear the shape of give and take without hearing the words.

<< Partial translation: ...yes... how long... [untranslatable]... all of them?... [untranslatable]... >>

Asqudān interrupted, "You don't need to give her all of it."

"She asked where they went," Waqar answered.

"She did not know to ask that."

"She knows now."

Margan's form shifted further. She was working to stay present. Waqar continued.

Words arrived in Arabic. Not fragments caught through partial perception — Waqar said them clearly, in the language Harith carried, as if repeating what it had already said in the other register and was now making sure could not be missed: nothing left to find.

The jinn rattled on in the unknown language, and whatever it was saying was costing her. Her form was losing more of its shape. She was trying to hold herself present, and he could see it failing. If she was asking it to stop, he could not hear it.

"She's losing her hold," Iddin observed, circling back from Harith. "Waqar, she's losing her hold."

"That is her concern," Waqar said, still focused on addressing Margan.

"It becomes our concern if she disperses," Asqudān said.

"She will not disperse," Waqar shot back. "She has more than this in her. I am not finished."

Asqudān moved toward Waqar. "What remains to tell her that she has not already received?"

"She's been in stone for twenty-one centuries. I will not leave her with only part of it," Waqar said, continuing.

The number sat in him the way the crater had sat in his foresight — too large to hold, pressing outward against whatever was meant to contain it. The community she had come from. The people who had known her name. Nothing left to find.

Something changed in his perception. Not the jinn signatures — he had been tracking all three throughout, the distinct behaviors of each column. This was different, arriving from the direction of Margan's right side, approximately two meters off. A brightness that wasn't heat — nothing metabolic, nothing electrical. The suit flagged nothing. It came through his foresight. The same faculty that had given him nothing usable for the jinn gave him this, unasked: a warmth arriving at the same instant his feet were already moving. He could not have said which came first.

He moved.

The blade extended from the suit's forearm before he had finished deciding — the training ahead of the deliberation, the covenant's demand to act running faster than his thinking. He stepped between Margan and Waqar's heat column and raised the blade.

Iddin's signature flickered and its circling stopped. Waqar's heat column oriented toward the blade. Its signature went utterly still — the stillness more unnerving than any response would have been.

"That," said Asqudān, from its distance, "is not going to do what you think it's going to do."

"I know," Harith said.

He lifted his forearm and activated the air between them with a hum.

The EM projector deployed — a directed electromagnetic disruption calibrated for exactly what these three heat signatures were. He had never used it outside training. It was live in under two seconds.

Iddin pulled back. Waqar turned. With the flatness of rapid recalibration, Asqudān said, "Where did a node get a lance?"

Iddin said, quietly: "A Futuwwa ring with access to infrastructure they haven't told anyone about." A pause. "I had not finished assessing the suit."

Waqar turned toward the projector and held there. Then it turned toward Harith — directly, for the first time — and its heat signature contracted, then expanded. He read it as surprise.

Asqudān’s column had turned from the argument toward a point beside Margan, and did not turn back.

"Waqar," Asqudān said. "The channel. Look at the bond."

The other two oriented where Asqudān was focused. A silence.

"She came from the stone," Waqar said slowly, in Arabic again — addressed to no one, as if thinking aloud. "The mausoleum. In the interior."

"Yes," confirmed Asqudān.

"The mausoleum that was destroyed."

"Yes."

Waqar was quiet. Then it said, to Margan, in Arabic, so that he heard it too: "We did not know there was one still in it."

The argument among the three that followed was too rapid and too layered for Harith to follow — Iddin and Asqudān speaking simultaneously, Waqar responding in fragments, the exchange running on registers he could and couldn't access. He kept the lance live and stood in front of Margan and let them argue.

Waqar disengaged first. Its heat column came apart rather than leaving — the organization going out of it, as if the form had stopped being worth the effort — and dispersed into the ruins beyond. Asqudān followed, still arguing, its final audible words directed at Waqar rather than at either of them: "—the channel cannot mean what you think it means, the bond simply does not—" and then it too was gone.

Iddin paused briefly in front of Harith. Its signature flickered.

"The lance," it said, in the tone of someone entering a notation in a record. "Modified EM profile. Non-standard calibration. I'll want to think about what that suggests about this Futuwwa ring." It did not wait for an answer, and he did not think it expected one.

Then it was gone.

He stood with the lance still live.

The suit pinged.

<< Maghrib. >>

He lowered the lance and turned around.

She was folding. Her form had held through all of it; now its edges came and went, as if holding them cost more than she had left. She was not looking at where the jinn had been. She was not looking at him. She was looking at the ground, and she was sinking toward it.

By the time he crossed the distance between them she was on the ground, her outline shifting, the effort that had been holding her present throughout the encounter spent. He could see her trying to hold the shape and he could see the shape refusing to hold.

He reached toward her. His suit's surface met nothing. His arms were in the space she had occupied and were not holding what they were reaching for. On the ground where she had been was a dove. Grey-white, its feathers the color of the light at this hour, still and small on the scorched earth. Not a diminishment. A clarity. Still her.

He did not know if she had shifted away from his reaching hand or if her form had simply finished failing before he got there. The dove was on the ground and his hands were in the air above it. She had shifted. Not a flight. Not an escape. A dove in the space where she had been — a form that, he guessed, cost her less when everything else had been spent.

He recognized her.

The bird he had been following since whatever configuration of intention had begun arranging this encounter — was here. It was her. He had been following her before he knew what he was following.

He stood in the ruins at the edge of Damascus with his arms at his sides and the dove in the space between them.

He stood in the failing light and looked at the bird that was and was not the woman he had traveled through the fallout zone beside, and he let what he was looking at be what it was.

He would pray. But not yet.

He lowered his hand to the ground beside the dove. She stepped onto it — the weight of her barely registering through the suit's surface — and he raised his hands to bring her towards his face. The bird looked at him just like it had in the dream then lifted, gliding into the air above him. She circled three times then departed southeast. He followed, wanting somewhere to pray away from this ground. She had her own route; he could tell that much from how she flew it — climbing to steer him slightly east, then south, then back to the southeast again.

From time to time she would descend and rest on his shoulder — or at least his foresight told him she did. The suit registered nothing. He felt the suggestion of talons without being certain the feeling was physical. He wondered if she could still see the jinn in the distance and was navigating an avoidance route for them. His suit had calmed as soon as the heat signatures had dispersed. The active scanning persisted but the systems were coming down from what had overwhelmed them. The suit's radiation counter had dropped significantly. The readings shifting from the zone's sustained threshold to a band the suit annotated differently, as if a boundary had been crossed. He had been watching for it. Soon it would designate survivable without support.

The suit still could not register the bird, but it could map her shadow. He ran it against their heading. She still had not been wrong.

One final update arrived in his display:

<< Dialect analysis: Western Aramaic, Palestinian-Syrian variant. Estimated period: 1st-2nd century CE. Confidence: 74%. >>

First or second century. The jinn had said twenty-one centuries. The numbers agreed.

He looked at Margan flying above him. The suit had given him everything it was going to give him about what she was. He motioned for them to halt. The prayer was due.

He prayed Maghrib at the edge of Damascus and made up Asr, the cost of the jinn disruption. He had never even heard the suit call it. She landed on a low section of remaining wall nearby and watched him the way she had learned to watch him pray.

With the completion of the prayer a peace settled into him, the pressure that had been everywhere in Damascus thinning until he could carry it. He had not fully registered how much the city had been costing him until it began to lift. He felt the prayer reach somewhere the jinn encounter had disturbed and had not been able to touch.

He turned, still sitting, to the ruins behind him with the dove on the wall to his left. He offered his shoulder. She remained on the ruined wall.

He looked back at the city behind them, no longer visible to the northwest. The sky above the basin still glowed with the fallout zone's residual luminescence, the atmosphere registering what his suit no longer needed to protect him from.

It was time.

"Bismillah."

The nano-material separation began at the collar and moved in stages — seams, panels, structural elements returning to their base configuration. He had counted this in training: thirty-three seconds from release to completion. He did not count it now.

Margan lifted from the wall at the first movement of the suit. She did not fly away from him — she rose into the air above him and he caught the iridescence of her in the twilight, the dove's grey-white with a sheen in it that did not belong entirely to the material world.

The suit completed its transition. In his hands: thirty-three beads, graduated, on a cord, warm from the day's sustained heat. He closed his fingers around the mesbah.

The dove landed.

Not on his shoulder. On the ground in front of him, and then not on the ground, and then Margan was standing in front of him — the transition no longer than three beads. She was in a younger form, looking at him with what he read as wonder, and something like recognition.

Then she looked at his hands. He opened them. The mesbah lay across his palm — thirty-three beads, the cord, the material that had been a suit moments ago and was now this. He watched her reach toward it and then stop, and look at him to ask.

He was aware that she was seeing him for the first time without the suit between them, and he did not know what she was making of a fifteen-year-old who had stepped between her and three jinn with a blade he knew was inadequate, and he decided he did not need to know right now.

He tipped his palm slightly toward her.

She lifted one bead carefully with two fingers and examined it. She held it. Turned it gently and set it back in his palm, looking at him with a question her face could hold but not yet carry.

He closed his fingers around the mesbah and pocketed it.

"Harith — shahida." Margan pointed at him and then at herself. The words came with care, each one placed: "Harith — shahida — Margan. Margan — shahida — Harith."

He heard what she was saying. Not the vocabulary — the claim underneath it. They had been witnesses to each other. The shahida had started with the bird he'd followed in the zone and gone further than either of them. It was a covenant — berit. And she was using it now for the two of them, what they had seen of each other across one day and one night in the ruins of catastrophe.

He looked at her — really looked at her, for the first time without the suit and its displays between them. Younger than she had been at the plaza, standing in the open ground southeast of Damascus in the last of the day’s light. Nothing in her face showed what the city had given her since morning. He knew it was there.

"Na'am," he said, nodding.

She stood looking at him with the hint of a smile. He watched her eyes move across his face, his arms, his hands. He had the feeling she was taking the measure of who had been inside the suit — and that she had come down to meet him at the age she found there.

"Harith." She held up her hand with one finger raised. "Harith wahid. Lama? — Sittah Futuwwa. Harith wahid." She pointed her finger at him. "Lama?"

He looked at the ground. She had taken him apart with his own vocabulary. He felt the blood come into his face as she continued.

"Layla — Harith nam — Margan shahida."

Nam. It took him a moment to hear the other word under it — the old root for sleep, the same one his own language kept. The night. Harith slept. Margan witnessed. He looked away. He wanted to say something about the dream. About the dead pressing through the cold water and the warmth that had arrived from her touch.

"Na'am," he said. His voice caught on it.

"Harith — lama?" she said, then paused. "Yad Margan," she said quietly.

He looked up.

She held out her own hand flat between them.

"Ya sahbi — Qum."

He rose and took in the night air. The heavy metallic scent was no longer there. Instead he caught a whiff of salt, lemon, and a touch of vanilla — and under it, for the first time since the coast, he was hungry. Everything he had eaten in the zone had come through the suit, and the suit was now in his pocket.

He looked at Margan and found he was smiling. "Let's go find something for me to eat."

Representing a crack in cyberspace and reaching out into the physical realm to initiate a riba free culture that later forms into civilisation. Paradoxically, all major movements during the Enlightenment infected society this way, through the meeting of like minded minds that existed at the fringes of the dominant culture in secret societies and closed clubs who later changed the course of modernity itself.
In such a world that is spiralling into chaos, the Mohammadan recognises that his mission is not easy; that whoever owns the future is the one most attached to his divine purpose of being God's vicegerent on earth."

quoting
naddr1qv…2dc4

{ ٱلَّذِینَ یَأۡكُلُونَ ٱلرِّبَوٰا۟ لَا یَقُومُونَ إِلَّا كَمَا یَقُومُ ٱلَّذِی یَتَخَبَّطُهُ ٱلشَّیۡطَـٰنُ مِنَ ٱلۡمَسِّۚ ذَ ٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمۡ قَالُوۤا۟ إِنَّمَا ٱلۡبَیۡعُ مِثۡلُ ٱلرِّبَوٰا۟ۗ وَأَحَلَّ ٱللَّهُ ٱلۡبَیۡعَ وَحَرَّمَ ٱلرِّبَوٰا۟ۚ فَمَن جَاۤءَهُۥ مَوۡعِظَةࣱ مِّن رَّبِّهِۦ فَٱنتَهَىٰ فَلَهُۥ مَا سَلَفَ وَأَمۡرُهُۥۤ إِلَى ٱللَّهِۖ وَمَنۡ عَادَ فَأُو۟لَـٰۤىكَ أَصۡحَـٰبُ ٱلنَّارِۖ هُمۡ فِیهَا خَـٰلِدُونَ }
[Surah Al-Baqarah: 275]

"Those who consume interest cannot stand [on the Day of Resurrection] except as one stands who is being beaten by Satan into insanity. That is because they say, "Trade is [just] like interest." But Allah has permitted trade and has forbidden interest. So whoever has received an admonition from his Lord and desists may have what is past, and his affair rests with Allah. But whoever returns to [dealing in interest or usury] - those are the companions of the Fire; they will abide eternally therein."

Ibn Kathir points out that Allah strategically places this verse right after discussing the righteous believers who give charity (Sadaqah), pay Zakah, and spend on those in need. He explains that while the charitable person sacrifices their own wealth to aid others, the usurer does the exact opposite—they illegally acquire people's money, leveraging wicked methods and exploitation. The compounding of evil, it is the one vehicle that has accelerated humanity's moral impulse to delirium.

The bustling strip of Brick Lane on a Saturday evening surprisingly provided an introspective reflection of the Muslim Bitcoin Summit. Tucker's explaination of bitcoin as a currency that codifies contracts was memorable. Is Bitcoin a currency to be used or an investment vehicle? A question that kept being raises among the less informed of the group. This issue with how Bitcoin is perceived speaks to a deeper issue: the question of monetary value. In an age where everything is tied to the mighty dollar, what we have lost is the ability to value things based on core principles. We wait for the latest tech craze not because we value these things but we are addicted to the dopamine cycle, the type of behaviour that is instilled within us from an early age to prepare us for the conveyor belt of capitalism that they call life. Its in this context that its not surprising that a decision was made to initiate the casinofication of Bitcoin to counteract its intended purpose. This battle of characterisation within the public sphere has a cultural dimension. This is observed whenever we see a new technology rising in the West, initiating to serve a certain purpose that contradicts the empire's will. Its purpose and meaning transforms through venture capital as it achieves regional virality, this is when its ready to be packaged with whatever meaning that anchors it to the levers and interests of empire and is exported to the third world. A normie in Egypt talking about Bitcoin could not tell you who invented it, why it was invented and the cyberpunk movement in the 70s that influenced its inception, the normie could only testify to its price rise volatility. The biggest trick instutions have sold is valuing Bitcoin against the fiat, that the connection between Bitcoin and Fiat is necessary for Bitcoin to flourish. Similar to gold, for the average man to make money Bitcoin has to be tied to Uncle Sam see Blackrock Bitcoin ETFs. Thinking about these two definitions of Bitcoin invites one to think about how the 20th century state ingrained a standard of value within its citizens and one man came to mind: Joseph Stalin.

The Plucked Chicken Parable
Stalin once called a meeting of his closest advisors and henchmen. To demonstrate how to effectively control a population, he requested a live chicken. He began to demonstrate control through two acts:

The Act of Cruelty
By picking up the chicken and plucking each feather, he leaves it bare, bleeding and in pain. The equalivalent to this in a capatlist system is the stripping of rights and most implrtantly the military industrial complex that funds endless conflict, the stock market, the cold machine that is powered by war. The allocation of capital towards martial expansion as million suffer of homlessness and poverty.

-The Act of Depedance
Stalin then proceeded to walk a short distance away from the chicken, to give it a false sense of space and freedom. He then took a handful of grain or bread crumbs from his pocket, and dropped them on the floor. Despite the severe trauma and pain Stalin had just inflicted upon it, the freezing, featherless chicken desperately limped back to him to eat from his hand. Wherever Stalin walked around the room, the chicken followed him. This is the riba system we live under, the false illusion that we own, riba is the bread that is used to direct us.

As I sat during the summit I realised that muslims in STEM are in a unique position to direct the wider Ummah towards an original techno definition: redefining Bitcoin as a practical technology that serves as the contractual layer that organises society. Safdar Allame made an important point that to assess how Bitcoin can be used, it must be integrated within a finanical architecture. An architecture where constraint is not a sign of limitation but differentiation and self regulation. Exploring what this architecture should look like is beyond the scope of this article.
Ghazalian/Khaldunian Economics
Hearing experts such as Irfan and Alam talk, inspires a read on Imam Al Ghazali and his description of how money is neutral; a medium of exchange that is a standard of measuring value within a society, if the epistemological truths of such society are based on morality and ethics then the medium of exchange must be designed to protect such truth. Ghazali sees the economy as a protector of the basic components that make up the son of Adam:
-Religion (Din)
-Life (Nafs)
-Intellect (Aql)
-Lineage (Nasl)
-Wealth (Mal)

Feature
Al-Ghazali (Ihya' 'Ulum al-Din)
Khaldunian socioeconomics

Primary Lens
Al Ghazali: Ethical, spiritual, and normative

Ibn Khaldun: Sociological, empirical, and structural

View of Wealth
Al Ghazali: A means to an end (sustaining spiritual and physical life) rather than an accumulative goal.

Ibn Khaldun: A product of human labor, social cooperation, and civilisation (‘umran).

Market & Prices
Al Ghazali: Acknowledged supply and demand, but heavily emphasized fairness, honesty, and the prohibition of hoarding, exploitation, and price gouging.

Ibn Khaldun: Framed prices as a rational outcome of supply and demand, labor value, and market scale (treating the ruling dynasty/state as the ultimate market).

Role of Money
Al Ghazali: Viewed money strictly as a medium of exchange; condemned hoarding and currency debasement as moral corruption and theft.

Ibn Khaldun: Analysed the circulation of money between rulers and subjects, warning that state hoarding or heavy extraction shrinks the economy.

Role of the State
Al Ghazali: Responsible for enforcing divine justice (Sharia), protecting public welfare (maṣlaḥa), and keeping markets honest.

Ibn Khaldun: Responsible for public spending as a fiscal stimulus, keeping taxes low to encourage productivity, and maintaining infrastructure

Whilst both differ on how to view economy, both do believe in the idea of the free market. It is important to note that both are products of their time. With Ghazali have lived during a period of decentralisation of power with multiple spheres of influences within the state. Whilst Ibn Khaldun served in the chancellory of multiple centralised states. This likely shaped Ibn Khaldun's top down approach to the economy; that the state must have control. Ghazali on the other hand relegated the state's role to a mechanism that is put in place to correct injustice, only when certain conditions are met the state can intervene.

It is perhaps in our time that we must reflect on how we can learn from these two visions and combine them into a coherent financial architecture that regulates economic behaviours in a way that ensures the core tenets of the din are upheld.

Accelerated Fintech in an Anti Global world

Ulema were once self sufficient examples of decentralised networks of knowledge production that are now buried. Of course the majority of ulema will not comprehend this. The same ulema encourage 'Islamic banking", "Islamic investing", HSBC's sharia-compliant fund invested over $100 million on Israeli military linked firms. Most British 'Halal' pension funds that your local imam loves to talk about are invested in HSBC's Islamic Global Equity Index Fund, which also purchased $38 million worth of Palantir shares.

Top down topology that both Tee and Alam elluded too for increased bitcoin adoption, this would need a high level of state mapping, identifying spheres of influences across the globe not just Islamicate, the Mohammadan is seeking a jihad against riba everywhere not just within 'Islamic countries', his mission is to infiltrate and infect. Upholding divine law in a world that is godless. Government structures, regional dynamics, elite psychologies need to be assessed to build a strategy for state penetration. See Venezuala. On the private sector front, bitcoin can be used to undermine the traditional idea of a corporation, where capital and profit is centered around a few. It is through bitcoin that we can organise our own organisation of enterprise, a mudaraba that is enforced in code and financially managed through Btc.

Splintered Technologies

Not to be confused with the splinternet. Splinter tech focuses on open source, secure decentralised applications with multi party workflows, with splinter circuits providing peer to peer communication channels. Similar to Nostr, the foundations of ecommerce bitcoin based platforms will be built using these concepts. If we adopt Hui's premise of technology being a form of colonial homogenisation and epistemic imposition, then we need to build it into software,: a splintered technology must be anti colonial in its essence and it must be its very definition. Renewable energy, bitcoin, bluetooth all these are examples of splintered technologies. Technologies when combine provide a total process cycle that is independent and enhance sovereignty.

The gathering of the Muslim Bitcoin Summit is not about figuring out immediate solutions, but about something more, a gathering of minds.
In such a world that is spiralling into chaos, the Mohammadan recognises that his mission is not easy; that whoever owns the future is the one most attached to his divine purpose of being God's vicegerent on earth.

As always Allah knows best.

In such a world that is spiralling into chaos, the Mohammadan recognises that his mission is not easy; that whoever owns the future is the one most attached to his divine purpose of being God's vicegerent on earth.

As always Allah knows best.

without monetary inflation via credit creation, it becomes much easier to see what regulations and policies benefit vs harm the market - good policies see cost of living, and production fall, and people's lives get easier, simple as that

you don't need to push immigration too hard only to shut it down just as fast, harming people on every turn, heck you don't even need to spend that much collecting stats and census and identity information everywhere

we have antitrust laws and enable the biggest antitrust play right alongside it, supporting credit creation and sacrificing the future in favor of the present and call it efficiency and maximizing idle cash - well if we weren't inflating with credit creation, it really wouldn't be idle cash would it?

quoting
nevent1q…tjs2
free market means bad actors too though, many will claim, especially the bad actors lol - I'd say the market will always exist and participants can make it more or less efficient and we're nowhere near max efficiency
