In reply to nevent1q…38vm
_________________________

Yes, people often do present 3D printing as if it could "create" food. e.g. science fiction featuring people who live by getting their food out of a machine. How the food got into the machine in the first place... never gets explained. The machine "made it."

And the excitement about 3D-printed food often feels as if that could be a solution to humanities big problems, the environmental crises etc. But perhaps in reality it is more like a specialty food decoration method.

      WHY FOOD CAN'T BE 3D-PRINTED

A 3D printer can print out the amount of material that has been fed into it – never more.
A 3D printer might make noodles out of flour.
