So when someone says "We have a connection" or "I feel connected to them," what they mean is: "I'm fond of them, and I'm assuming they're fond of me, too"?

(If that's it, I guess one of the reasons I have a hard time figuring this out is because there are people who are "looking for a connection," and laying claim to someone else's internal experience makes absolutely no sense to me at all.)

Can you explain it in tangible terms? Actions, things that happen?
How does the metaphor work? What is connected to what and by what?

You said earlier that the metaphor doesn't really make sense to you either, but attachment or trust does.
"Attach to a baby"? "Trust a baby"?
What does "connect with a baby" mean? What does that entail exactly?

One of the most frustrating things is thinking I might have finally stumbled upon an explanation of what "having a connection" is supposed to mean, only for it to go something like: "a connection is a feeling of being connected."

They're explaining the thing with the thing itself! That's not a sound definition or explanation, and it's not helpful at all.

"a feeling of being connected" doesn't make any more sense to me than "having a connection" does.
What does "being connected" mean if it's neither meant in a physical nor in a metaphysical sense?

Hi y'all on this strange object and beyond! It's me, the real raccoon (not actually a raccoon).

I just moved to this fine instance because my old one is shutting down.
I'm missing the blob raccoon emojis already.

I'm mostly interested in cool political stuff, news, & books, & art & what have you, & I'm (almost) always glad to subscribe to more vegan anarchists / anarchist vegans on here (not looking for orgs, just cool, kind people).

I'm pretty much burnt out on any kind of organizing & physical (ostensibly?) anarchist spaces. Please bear with me if I come off a bit jaded!

I'm highly introverted & don't really get other people's approaches to interpersonal matters most of the time.
I don't grasp concepts like "having a connection" & "emotional needs," & it seems no one can explain these in tangible terms that make sense to me (which is unfortunate, as I'd really like to have some kind of basic understanding with y'all).
