El garaje de claves llega a RoboSats 🔑

Os explico qué cambia, por qué os importa y qué tenéis que hacer (spoiler: guardar UNA clave bien).

## La versión corta

RoboSats está cambiando la forma en que funcionan las identidades de los robots. Antes generabas un código aleatorio para cada intercambio y, si lo perdías, adiós robot y adiós recompensas. Ahora existe el garaje de claves: una única clave maestra que genera todos tus robots de forma determinista. Una clave = todo tu garaje.

## ¿Qué cambia en la práctica?

## Tu nuevo flujo de trabajo

1. Crear o importar tu clave del garaje. Al entrar en la aplicación, generas tu clave o pegas una que ya tengas. Guárdala sin conexión: en papel, en un gestor de contraseñas o donde sea, pero guárdala bien. Es la única clave que necesitas.

2. Haz intercambios como siempre... pero mejor. La aplicación deriva automáticamente la siguiente cuenta libre (#0, #1, #2…) y crea un robot nuevo para cada intercambio. Tú no tienes que hacer nada más.

3. Rotación automática. Cuando un robot termina una orden, esa cuenta se marca como usada y la aplicación te sugiere pasar a la siguiente. Un robot que ya ha hecho un intercambio queda bloqueado para nuevas órdenes. Verás un aviso del tipo *«navega a una cuenta nueva para preservar la privacidad»*. Esto evita que reutilices identidades por accidente.

4. Explora tu garaje. Con el navegador de cuentas puedes moverte entre tus cuentas pasadas y activas desde tu perfil.

5. Recuperación. ¿Has perdido tu dispositivo? ¿Has hecho una instalación nueva? Introduce tu clave del garaje y la aplicación consulta los relés de Nostr para descubrir hasta qué cuenta llegaste. Así se restaura el garaje con todos tus robosts. Los metadatos de recuperación viajan cifrados (NIP-59), así que solo tu clave puede leerlos. Ningún coordinador puede recuperar tu identidad por ti.

## Ojo: el modo heredado

Tras actualizar, la aplicación arranca en vista heredada. No te asustes: es intencionado.

- Sirve solo para terminar intercambios en curso con códigos antiguos.
- Los botones para crear órdenes, consultar ofertas y realizar la configuración inicial quedan deshabilitados y muestran mensajes explicativos.
- Todo lo nuevo pasa por el modo de clave del garaje.

Gracias a esto nadie pierde un intercambio activo por el cambio, pero se prepara el futuro para adaptarse a la clave del garaje.

## Cosas que debes tener en cuenta

- La clave de tu garaje es tu identidad. Quien la tenga controla tus robots y sus recompensas. Trátala como una frase semilla.
- La recuperación depende de los relés de Nostr. Si has pasado mucho tiempo sin conectarte, la recuperación puede tardar en descubrir todas tus cuentas.
- No mezcles códigos antiguos con cuentas nuevas esperando que se fusionen: son sistemas distintos. Termina lo antiguo en el modo heredado y empieza lo nuevo con la clave del garaje.
- La privacidad mejora por sí sola: la rotación por intercambio ya no depende de tu memoria; es el comportamiento predeterminado. Pero ojo: si vuelves a usar una cuenta ya utilizada, el aviso está ahí por algo.

Por qué esto es importante
Antes, RoboSats te daba privacidad mediante la rotación de identidad... si tú lo hacías bien y no perdías los códigos. Ahora la privacidad y la posibilidad de recuperar tus cuentas son estructurales: forman parte del funcionamiento del sistema, no dependen de tu disciplina. Además, la recuperación es descentralizada (relés y cifrado), por lo que no depende de ningún servidor ni coordinador.

For those who want to generate a strong passphrase, with enough entropy to avoid single points of failure and to add an extra safeguard in case the entropy of the generated seed is weak for any reason:

We live in the game set by those who concentrate power. Every year we replay the same conversations about the same topics, guided by politicians and media that aim to control what we think. Vegan eco-resilience, abortion, identities, cultural heritage, strikes — debate focuses on what provokes, not on what unites us.

Yet we all share the same universal wants and needs: not to be robbed, the chance to build a life project under stable rules, access to good healthcare, the ability to live in peace. But we rarely talk about why those goals aren’t guaranteed or what limits we should place on those who usurp power. Today's debates are designed to divide and silence, not to build. Their goal is to keep their place on the throne.

As Bernard Cohen said: “The press may not succeed in telling people what they ought to know, but it is amazingly successful in telling them what to think about.” That explains why we spend hours on topics imposed on us.

What to do about it?
Reduce exposure: turn off social media, TV and radio. If it doesn't reach you directly, it can only affect you through others.
Prioritize the essentials: spend time with family and friends, exercise, eat well, and go into nature without your phone; this is what matters most at the end of each day.
Work on what you believe in and seek purpose: find what excites you, share and confront ideas with people who add value — don’t waste time on sterile conversations.
Finally, give your opinion: it’s important to communicate and present your ideas; sometimes you’ll be wrong or someone will appreciate a new perspective. But if expressing yourself causes friction with people who matter to you, ignore the noise, accept disagreement, and move on. Sin embargo todos compartimos los mismos deseos y necesidades universales: que no nos roben, poder desarrollar un proyecto de vida con reglas estables, acceso a buena sanidad, poder vivir en paz... Pero rara vez hablamos de por qué esas metas no están garantizadas ni de qué límites queremos poner a quienes usurpan el poder. Los debates actuales están diseñados para separar y silenciar, no para construir. El objetivo es mantener su sitio en el trono.

Keeping persistent identities requires maintaining records, and those records are vulnerable to attacks and can be exploited to target users. Likewise, reputation alone offers **no guarantee**: a scammer can create a fake reputation by interacting with themselves and then use that false trust to defraud unsuspecting users.

These issues have been discussed many times over the years, and the arguments for why systems are built this way have been explained. The key point to understand is that the weak link here is fiat-money channels. Robosats (nprofile…ml9t) is an open‑source project: anyone can propose code improvements, fix existing bugs (take a look at https://github.com/RoboSats/robosats/issues — there are tasks for all skill levels and BTC bounties), or create something new from it (a “fork”). It is also a federation: we do not impose universal rules. We offer recommendations and each coordinator is free to follow them or not. Son quienes se encargan de permitir el intercambio. Ellos ponen el servidor, median entre las partes si hace falta... Son los que hacen posible la compraventa.

En el caso de RoboSats, hace falta confiar en el buen hacer de los coordinadores porque los sistemas de fianza o depósito, funcionan con hold invoices. Esto es un tipo especial de tx en ln que crea un pago en potencia que se realiza solo si se cumplen determinadas condiciones (que la contraparte confirme haber recibido el Fiat, que se abra disputa, que se cancele la orden, etc.). Este pago no se realiza, no sale de la wallet de origen, pero sí queda comprometido a modo de aval. En el caso de las fianzas, es lo que incentiva a los usuarios a cumplir y no engañarse entre sí. En el caso del depósito, es lo que asegura que quien envía el Fiat va a recibir sus sats.
Volviendo al tema de la confianza, esta es necesaria porque los coordinadores podrían hacer que el hold invoice se ejecute y pasarían a ser ellos los que controlan esos fondos.

¿Por qué no ha habido ningún caso de robo de fondos hasta ahora? Porque un coordinador honesto gana mucho más dinero en el largo plazo que lo que puede ganar robando a un usuario y perdiendo la confisnza y el negocio.

La clave y la genialidad de recksato (nprofile…uwxk) fue crear un sistema de incentivos tal que la mejor opción egoísta para todos los usuarios a nivel personal, es actuar bien.
