From a student in a lab I collaborate with - share widely:

"Please help!

There is a proposal to change how F and J visas work. Currently, they are awarded for the duration of studies. The proposal seeks to change this to be for a specific time period. Should, for example, a PhD student not complete their studies in the allotted time frame, they would be required to leave the country. I think this would very negatively impact our research enterprise!

There is a possibility to submit comments to this proposal: https://www.regulations.gov/document/ICEB-2025-0001-0001

Previous similar proposals were scrapped after 20k+ comments. This proposal currently has 9k. I submitted a comment discouraging this change. Consider commenting as well!

Comment period is open through Sept 29."

I suspect (hope) folks here will be interested in commenting. You can comment anonymously (I did).

And obviously still worse temporal resolution than ephys. But ephys isn't a walk in the park either, and those videos of cells fluorescing were what hooked me on neuroscience in undergrad haha. So pretty!
