We're thrilled to be featured in the latest ProofofWorkMagazine (npub12zx…z0n7). Thank you Marilyn. Founding a publication like this is its own kind of PoW, and the bitcoin & nostr education space is better for it.

If you’re reading this please share it widely, especially with the parents/guardians of piggy-bank-aged kids and the bitcoin educators you appreciate 🐽⚡

* Native ₿ font now built into MicroPythonOS
* International number formatting
* Fresh welcome screen and setup guide
* Wallet cache — balances & transactions stay even if the internet drops
* Restructured settings menu
* Balance cycling is back: sats, ₿, bits, µBTC, mBTC, BTC
* New screen lock setting

⚡🐽 And we're just getting started. Big things cooking.

I just put I a pull request to fix a bug in the LightningPiggy (nprofile…kede) app. It was not connecting an Alby wallet that had a balance of 0. I used GPT to find the bug and hopefully squash it.

With the technology available we can all assist on open source projects. Even if we can't fix them, we can find them or at least inform the developers they are there.

Will the fix I made be used, I don't know. Hopefully it will at least be useful.

That is my rant for today. Hug a developer.

MPOS 0.5.1 Release Highlights

A brand-new Camera experience
The Camera app has received a major overhaul with new Basic, Advanced, and Expert modes. Scanning QR codes is now dramatically more powerful; even tiny, high-density codes (like Nostr Wallet Connect) on phone screens, damaged images, or codes with logos and dots are decoded reliably.

Better image handling
You can now delete images directly from ImageView, and grayscale images are fully supported.

Smarter updates & connectivity
System updates now automatically pause if Wi-Fi drops and resume when you’re back online. The Wi-Fi app also feels smoother thanks to improved keyboard handling and fixed cancel behaviour.

Improved hardware support
Fri3d Camp 2024 boards gain startup light and sound feedback, more accurate battery readings, and full support for the WSEN-ISDS 6-axis IMU — including temperature sensing.

More control
Storage usage is now visible in the About app, IMU calibration has been added to Settings, and the back-swipe gesture intelligently closes the top menu when it’s open.

Under-the-hood improvements
New audio, lighting, and sensor APIs unlock richer apps, smoother animations, and better hardware integration across the system.

Embrace zero-custody: connect your node or any NWC wallet to one of 3 new NWC wallet interfaces: bitbanana (nprofile…q8gv), Bitvora Inc. (nprofile…pmc6) and bullishNWC by The Bullish ₿itcoiner (nprofile…82jm).

Two new chat apps have now bitcoin payments built-it thanks to NWC support: chachi (nprofile…awph) and White Noise by jeffg (nprofile…nucx).

4 new payment tools: Redeem Cashu tokens to any NWC wallet on http://redeem.cashu.me, pay everywhere in Brazil from NWC wallets through http://nostrpix.carrd.co, reward your kids' NWC sub-wallets with Money Badger and split bills in bitcoin with Zaplit http://zaplit.mucu.dev

We now have new category: NWC hardware 🤯 Pay lightning invoices and swap to Rootstock (nprofile…69qz) RBTC with wesatoshis (nprofile…lecx) card https://wesatoshis.com/

Or save bitcoin directly into your node with your own bitcoin piggy bank
LightningPiggy (nprofile…tqqs)

Finally, a new dev tool created by Dhananjay Puroh: L402 NGINX module that allows lightning-based monetization of REST APIs straight intro your NWC wallet or node: https://github.com/DhananjayPurohit/ngx_l402

Want to see the full list of NWC apps? Check out our repository of NWC ecosystem: https://github.com/getAlby/awesome-nwc
