Cyclists, I'm torn between a Giant Talon 1 and 2. The Talon 1 is sold out and closest is 2 hours away, but the Talon 2 is right down the road. I'm not THAT serious, so mostly light trails (no jumps) and some street biking with the family.

- I don't care about the dropper post, at least not until/if I get more serious
- I care mostly about the quality, as the shifters (Shimano vs microSHIFT) differs

I originally liked Ubuntu, as I've used it for servers to preferred the familiarity, at least on the command line. However, I was having some weird UI-issues related to dragging and dropping files, which lead me to trying other distros.

None were "bad" honestly, and I was being picky. I liked Fedora and Manjaro. Some desktops like Cinnamon and Zorin's Gnome didn't support wayland. It was just little things.

I have a Samsung laptop (that I'm typing on right now) that is over 15 years old and the battery still lasts for at least an hour if not two.

How? I've never really used the battery in all those years, so it never really drained. Also, I enabled the battery saver which keeps it charged only to 80%.

I'm giving in and trying out KDE (Kubuntu). I love the simplicity of Gnome, but it's like using a Fisher Price toy. Cinnamon is nice too but for the life of me I cannot get touchpad gestures to work (seems it's a X11 thing).

KDE I was scared of - it feels like piloting a submarine. It's overwhelming at times. However, it functionally works perfectly and fixes all the gaps/issues I've had with other desktop flavors. Wish it was less ugly though...

The Gestures app says Touchegg was not installed as a service, but had to reinstall from .deb for it to show up. Afterward, gestures still didn't work at all, though the Gestures app now showed configuration settings.
