All countries suck and all borders are violence. That said, I can't help but feel envious of my Canadian friends that they're on that side of our shared border.

Local news is just as useless as its big siblings on cable and the internet.

SS United States was moved out of Philly yesterday, and I heard not one but two reporters on 6ABC say: "It was originally designed to transport troops and then was reimagined into a cruise liner..."
I wanted to claw my fucking eyes out.
- SSUS was not a "cruise liner," and certainly not "reimagined" as one. It was a purpose-built ocean liner. It was meant to make regular transatlantic crossings. Cruise ships are party limos; ocean liners are buses.
- It was not "designed to transport troops" (ok, technically it was, but the implication here is that its first purpose was as a troopship). It was a passenger liner, and part of the agreement with the U.S. government was that it be designed such that it *could* carry troops during war.
Ultimately, it doesn't matter, and I'm not mad that the news got something obscure like a ship's history wrong. What upsets me is, if they're not doing basic research about something trivial like that, what *other* research *aren't* they doing about, say, encroaching fascism?

Had lunch today with my friend and now-ex-co-worker. She said the now-familiar "we survived the first four years" and I kinda Stone Cold stunnered her with "not all of us did."
It wasn't my intention to one-up or gotcha her, it just came out. But she honestly seemed stunned by it and didn't know what to say.

Thy Flesh Consumed is so weird. All the levels in that episode are great, but they're in a totally wrong order. The difficulty curve in that episode is so fucked.
Once you get through E4M2, it's a total breeze. But good luck getting there alive without cheating

So, as you may have read in recent posts, I lost my job. Given the industry I was in, I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did.
I figure I have a few months of unemployment benefits before my situation becomes critical, so I'm going to take that time to renew my focus on Enigma Heart and Acronia, and start utilizing @npub19yj…z90k's Patreon to its fullest potential, including much more frequent updates. Maybe this could lead to indie game dev finally becoming my full-time job? Who knows!
I've revamped the tier structure, including some fun new merch perks. And all tiers now have access to playable builds of our in-development games, at different intervals.
I would really appreciate your support by becoming a paid member any tier. Please don't do it if you're not financially able to, but if you are, it would really help a lot!
Thanks, and let's see where this journey leads!

Got a cool idea for my Patreon promo image that I can use here on fedi. Still no idea what (if any) wording I'm going to put on it, but I've got a basic layout in mind and a nice piece of key art. It should look pretty rad.
Gonna work on that after I grab a nap (it's gonna take a few days before I settle into a proper/regular sleep routine. My poor body is *so tired*)

2024-11-02 04:05:08 UTC

Now that I'm unemployed, I wonder how much I could manage to pump up Hadrosaurus Software's Patreon numbers in the next month or two, if I really focus on EH's development and promoting and posting every day
Full-time income maybe? Probably too much to hope for

yeah, imagine a world where endless work isn't the center of our lives, and it's considered normal to take so much time off at a stretch that a nice, comfortable, six-day round trip to where you're going is part of the experience

2024-10-18 17:07:26 UTC

why do i want to make an rpg? it's so i can bring to life a world where jetliners don't exist, polyamory is socially accepted, there's no designated hitter rule in baseball, and all long-distance travel is done by ocean liners and high-speed rail
i'm not just weird, but weird in extremely specific ways

This film starts by showing us what a kind, caring person Price's character is. I know it's meant to illustrate how anybody can "go bad," but it's just making me like him all the more. I'm not scared of him, even as he gets more paranoid. Each murder just makes me go "yeah that asshole deserved it"

2024-08-09 16:11:28 UTC

Wind storms broke off a big tree branch and smashed my car's windshield and destroyed the passenger side mirror. Car already needed a bunch of work done because of lack of maintenance during covid. Windshield sent it over the edge. I think it's finally totaled.
That was my first and only car I've owned. I've had it for 15 years. I'm sad about this.
