is spam actually still a problem
i see products like incogni or something that seem to base their entire identity off of being ways to defeat spam/places that have your emails
but i'll be honest: i barely, barely receive spam. i can't remember the last time i got a completely unsolicited Spam Email; at worst, i'll sometimes get something unwanted from a company who didn't properly unsub me or added me to a new mailer list.
do i just have good digital hygiene?
how often do you receive spam email?

I am more okay with video game behaviour being called "AI" in that they are meant to be an artificial replacement for the intelligence of a human opponent. And also noöne was sinking the global economy and destroying the planet because of heuristics and IF statements in the first FEAR game.

are you aware of the current chardet snafu? The argument being employed is basically "I told the LLM very sternly to please not peek at the previous code, so it's definitely enough of a cleanroom to relicense the new code to MIT from GPL"

I'm a bit of both. I don't love that I've swapped out a US dependency for an EU dependency but it's the far superior choice even if privacy isn't the main concern.

have you had any experience with CryptPad? Not asking so as to recommend, asking because I'd be interested to know how it compares.
Because yeah, unfortunately, I agree. Proton Mail is nice. The calendar is good. The docs are so rudimentary that I've literally switched to Obsidian for the main work on all my documents which I then convert into the necessary format at the last stage.

Considering putting out some #FediHire feelers. My current company seems to be turning more and more towards AI and my concerns are that this will be at the expense of stuff I want to focus on, like optimization, architecture and system work. I'd rather take this moment to grow my career towards what I originally imagined, biotechology, but honestly I'm open to any role that seems interesting and does good work.
I'm an excellent dev in Java, with significant experience in Go, Python and HTML5, and a degree in Bioinformatics from the medical research center at the local university hospital. Moreover, I'm really, really good at working in a team, especially asynchronously. I'm also looking to pivot from the role of a general lead developer into focussing more on backend, devops and security work
I'm at the GMT-0 to GMT+4 band and I'm looking for remote work! And I'm in South Africa, so if you're from the northern hemisphere you'll get to vicariously enjoy my summers while your fingers freeze off 😎
Any boosts or leads would be rad! But also making this post is me keeping myself honest too.
