Wrote some scripts so I can pull large video files from youtube, odysee, and rumble, and convert them down to .ogg files while still on the server, and then rsync them to my local machine. Why? data use shrinkage. In this case, 2.5 gigs was reduced to 100mb. I dont really want to sit and watch the videos. I want to listen to the audio while I work and do other things. Might as well use the ultra fast connection on my VPS to download the large stuff, and shrink it down for consumption before downloading it locally.

This is a brutal truth...
The U.S. overthrew the Ukrainian government in a Color Revolution coup in 2014, installed a new government, trained an funded militants who bombed eastern Ukraine for 8 years eventually provoking a military invasion on the part of Russia, sabotaged peace talks, blew up pipelines, all in an attempt to destabilize Russia.
And what do they have to show for it?
100,000 Ukrainians dead, 100 billion in tax payer money gone, China and Russia are now friendly, Saudi Arabia and India are moving towards them, and not only did the Russian economy survive, it is growing.

#[0] Telegram is no better. The U.S. State Dept has told them to take down channels which were breaking no laws, and they did. And their encryption is no better either. The reason they are being attacked, is because of how many people who are pissed off at the U.S. government exchange information on that app. Its the community they want to take down.
The U.S. has used social media in all coups since 2004. They know what it can do, which is why they are so aggressively seeking control of all of it.
But as for encrypted platforms which provide actual privacy, it is my belief that NONE exist now. I dont believe that there are any easy to use, widely available platforms which provide legitimate security anymore. Matrix was funded by Mossad, and leaks metadata. On purpouse in my opinion. OMEMO on xmpp can theoretically do secure text only, but there are some questions about that.
At this point, the only secure way of communicating with others can only happen on a server where the messages never leave the server. In fact, this is one technique the CIA uses. They will use a single email account, that never sends an email. All communication occurs within the drafts folder, and they burn the account when they are done.
The only model I can see which would provide any sort of security over standard internet, other than zipping hidden encrypted messages into random images and videos, is a build script for a Pubnix style server, where you spin up the server, and people in the group log in through ssh, and communicate for a while, then wipe the server, and create another. But how are you going to pay for the server? 5 eyes governments have put pressure on all VPS providers to not accept crypto anonymously for this very reason.

We have to be honest with ourselves that all western governments are hell bent on having access to ALL communication which occurs on the internet. They are spending thousands of man hours, and millions of dollars to make that happen. What are our options? Encrypted HAM packet radio? LoRa mesh networks? Someone built a LoRa grid in Utah, and the Feds destroyed it because they put some of the repeaters on federal land. (doh!)
