I can't pass this last mission which should give me access to continue the Abydos arc. All my "main" students are lvl 36, I'm level 38, and always are late when the final boss it's around 500~ HP (which it's almost nothing). Can't believe a gacha would be really difficult without the need of buying goodies to past it, feels almost like a real game.

Valkyria Chronicles was the perfect "turn based RTS FPS" game for the new generation, but because it sold poorly in burgerland (that's why Valkyria Chronicles 3 was only released in Europe) there was never a sequel nor any attempt of an indie to resurrect the "genre".
It was developed exclusively by SEGA.

Since there won't be a 5 because, as I said, burgers couldn't into these types of games, I'm almost sure it would be different if SEGA would release a Valkyria Chronicles 5 or reboot, but that won't happen, I'm gonna finish the last one for PC for once.

But I still remember when I put the BD-ray of the 1st one of the series in my PS3 so long ago, and got blown away by those shaders that made like everything drawn by hand, it was and still it's unique, I don't know how to put it.
Anyway, anyone got any opinion on this saga?

This was the hardest week so far for me that I still managed to stay active. That translates to, I continued doing my best with the lowest chances of passing another week. And another week passed.
But it just happened that because of my past works my ex coworker now wants/needs again some of my work, which I thought it was no longer the case, period.
But honestly, I feel it's all in the air all the time and that tires me out immensely. I very much doubt that I will be able to move so many pieces and do the type of work I did this week, specially in the first days of the week, in the same conditions.

Got awake at 1am because of dental pain, which subsided with the meds I had in the cabinet (lot of Pregabalin for the nerves, and 100mg Tramadol to help a little). Managed to sleep.

Got awake again at 5.20am with very strong dental pain, enough to make me dress, and go out to the pharmacy with 5C. Bought a box of Ibuprofen 600mg x 10 in gel capsules (called Actron from Bayer), and a new dental paste. Also because I only had some sausages and bread in the house, I also bought a small pack of cookies Cerealitas to help the stomach digest the 2 pills I did take when I got back home (1200mg) which, in 20 minutes stopped the pain, and made the pain less strong if I chew with the right side.
Told to Grok the kind of pain I could have and said: a deep cavity reaching the nerve, or an early abscess.
It seems (it seems, that means not confirmed) that if the pain lowers intensity with anti inflamatories and more important, when you also press where the cavity or abscess is, the pain it is lower, it can be managed.

Lately I don't get any brake.

Once there was a boy who grew watching his parents fight all the time, and at the age of 6 would get between them so they wouldn't hit each other.
The parents ended up divorcing, and the boy lived for a some years with his grandma from the mom's side. Things were better.
Grandma had an stroke, and died. The boy saw it unfold and the mother could only cry like a baby. After this, the boy, already in the last years of primary school, lived alone because his mom worked all day.
The boy was bullied and didn't realize to fight back because he was depressive for many reasons, mostly for his grandma. He suffered much from the bullies, things he never forget.
The boy, now a man, began high school, and despite living alone and being very lonely, he had his tiny group of friends both in the neighborhood and in the high school.
Suddenly it was time for college, he wanted to be a computer engineer, and although he hated how much lonely he was in the college without his friends, he managed to do 2 years - until he received an offer from a telco to work and he stopped going to college.
The man was extremely good in all the companies he worked, and was paid really well - he was living with his grandma from the father's side almost for a decade.
The father died early for a wrong appendicitis operation.
The man began losing his way, but become part of 3 workmates that made works online, mostly preparing servers, connections, and installing services.
He managed to live 5 years with this job, working from home. It wasn't easy though, he was now living alone in his own apartment and only he accepted being available 24/7.
In January of 2026 what was left of the group broke and he stopped being paid.
While looking for other corporate jobs online, the man learned an amount of things he would usually take a year. After 10 failed interviews, he mastered AWS and Kubernetes and was confident.
But the man got 15 more interviews, most of them going well, so he was expecting a call or an email.
But all he got were rejections like "...at this time we decided to continue with another candidate"
He talked with some really higher up person and was told to stop looking for corporate IT jobs, if he didn't have a connection it wouldn't matter how much he knew.
The man has been looking for wage jobs for 3 months, applying every morning. Never received a mail or a call.
The man was now 41 years old, had no more IRL friends, he desperately wanted to have a job to support a partner because loneliness was hurting him mentally and physically.
The man has been thinking for the last 3 weeks on throwing himself in the roads of the subway after learning it's so fast that there is almost no pain.

Reading books on the subjects may help only a 15% compared to the real thing, but they do help, they open your head to obvious social ways of being that you might have not even think of.

this week I'll have to wake at 4am to learn how they make bread in a bakery -but the owner wanted to be clear "Not for work"

I did my first 5 years of primary school in the same place while my parents were together, then my mom decided to separate/divorce from my dad because it was like the cool thing to do in the 90s; I had to move twice after that from primary schools (here it's from 1st grade up to 9 grade, or it used to be, then 3 years of high school).
The second time I had to change schools and lost again the friends I made was because my grandma passed away and my mother felt she needed to move closer to where her boyfriend lived.
Do you know how it ended up? selling our house to buy a small apartment to live with his bf when I was 20 years old. And that's how I had to move with my dad and grandma to the capital of BsAs.

There's also the friends you made in your neighborhood, back then you could play in the street without danger, and you could be almost all day with these guys, they were as bored as you as children/teen. All my friends that I made, I ended up losing them. Including the IRC ones but that's another topic.
That's why I have to read books like "A Philosophy of Loneliness" to understand the best way to be empathic to people as an adult.

This turned into a kind of a rant, sorry again.

Also you're mixing law of attraction (I used to call it being empathic to make friends) with meritocracy in a job -which sadly are less and less about what you can do and who you know, at least in my corrupt country.

I worked all my life in IT, since I was 19 years old making webpages and programs in Visual Basic 6 for the hotel my dad worked in.

On January of this year I got laid off.

After learning most AWS and in particular Kubernetes, deeply, what I'm trying to say is, including super high degrees of auditory and security levels, due to in all my searches getting an offer from the treasury of the US to work for them and they asking for Linux audit FedRAMP level (I had no idea what those words meant), training weeks non stop on all this, learning more in a span of 4-5 months what I would learn in, IDK, in 2~ years, while non stop pushing useful projects to my github (github.com/leokasion) thinking that would really impact my chances of getting higher chances on websites like LinkedIn or Indeed, having literally around 15-20 interviews via Meet, MS Teams, and/or Zoom in 4-5 months, *breathes*, as you, I realized thanks to a friend from literally this board that I don't want to work anymore in corporate IT -nor in IT at all.
I still enjoy coding and developing for me, for the projects I enjoy advance little by little, some OpenGL here, some GameMaker there, some Java for a mobile app here.
But here's what I differ from you, I'm at an age that I know what I like, what I hate, and what I love. I want to try different things. Try to get into some type of work that demands some degree of physical labor; like working in a bakery, or as private security guard, anything I can get -and I have to hurry because I'm at the age limit to get those jobs. My physical health is perfect, but after you're 40 years old, it's though to start from scratch, specially in a job you don't know, which for me are all of them except IT.

If you left corporate IT, you know as well as I, how poisoned that well is, that the current way industry manages things it's unsustainable and even many more jobs will get lost. And the funny thing is, mostly not because AI.
I know exactly what you said. I wanted to explain my current situation in this thread, too.

And when I say I would love getting a job as a librarian, I imagine that would be the case since I was little I never had many friends, and books and videogames had to do. From printing the OpenGL Red book manual to read in the roof of my house at 14 years old, to read Meditations on the tablet in the little couch of my apartment nowadays. I love books (in all forms), and because of my younger cousins and other younger people I know from internet, I can see how new generations mostly don't like don't to read -which is a trend which I think will get back to baseline, and realize the satisfaction of being part of a friendship only via pen pals.

Last but not least, sorry for how much I extended this post.
