Vibe coded decomps could be the real Achilles heel of corpo #AI boosters. The very companies that pushed this stuff are facing a world where any yob can prompt themselves a Photoshop clone and just put it on GitHub. It’ll be jank and impossible to maintain or update, but free is free.

Getting my current phone battery replaced soon so switched to an ancient phone that still has a physical Home button and damn son, we really lost something when we gave up physical buttons.

2026-09-23T19:53:04Z

After the recent update both transcoding and live streaming directly to my #Peertube server is broken and I just don't have the spoons to roll up my sleeves and try and triage it. I can still upload & it's fine if I pre-encode it correctly so I'll just keep it for archival purposes. Thankfully #Owncast still works flawlessly so I still have a non-corpo streaming option.

Spouse was just telling me about all the awful Gen #AI pics she’s seen of Dolly & Tim entering heaven. There’s something particularly offensive about memorializing two people who spent their lives in the creative arts with this dogshit.

2026-08-09T21:39:58Z

The real endgame of the #AI push is to further centralize and concentrate power and ownership to a small number of rich men. A civilization of addict renters, who own nothing and depend on them for everything. Seize the means of compute. Buy nothing new. Hold on to what you have because there isn’t going to be any more.

2026-07-15T21:16:35Z

It’s really hitting me today that despite having so much I want to do (streaming, building, videos, writing, etc), at 58 I just don’t have the stamina to make any of them regular enough to build a real audience. Attention economy is a harsh mistress.

It sucks to be old. It really, *really* does.

I’m good for both desktop and HTPC for (hopefully) years cuz owning hardware is going to be niche luxury.

2026-06-22T18:21:21Z

I'm sure #Valve didn't want to price the Steam Machines like this, this is just the new normal. And I don't think we're going back, even after the bubble bursts.

The entire goal is to make us all renters by removing our ability to run our own compute. We will own dummy screens for cloud servies, nothing more. It's what the data centers will be for after #AI.

Not to sound alarmist, but consider a future where you *must* use #Windows 12 because switching to #Linux is "illegal" thanks to Age Verification nonsense.

It's clear the Corpos are literally trying to remove the ability for anyone to use compute without their gatekeeping. The time to fight that is now.
