I agree that Reticulum seems much better suited for that, and I’m really interested in its versatility, particularly its ability to use different kinds of transport and routing rather than relying exclusively on a LoRa mesh.<br/><br/>For my particular purposes, though, I want to see networks that are easy enough for ordinary people to use and that can provide basic communications during emergencies when the grid or telecommunications infrastructure goes down. This actually happens, even in highly industrialized countries.<br/><br/>One thing I find really exciting about MeshCore, and Meshtastic to a certain degree, is that their usability seems to be getting more people interested in thinking outside the corporate monopolies that control most of our communications infrastructure. Almost every time I show someone how this works—how you can send messages across an independently built network without relying on a telecom company—their mind is blown. I think breaking that spell is massively important.<br/><br/>My hope is that as Reticulum and the tools around it become easier to use for people who aren’t seventh-level nerds, reflashing some of the devices now scattered all over the place won’t be particularly difficult.
