I apparently reinvented the wheel to keep plants alive in the drought situation here in SW Florida. I use 5 gallon plastic buckets and drill 3 small holes in the bottom in a group. They are placed next to the plant or tree I am watering with the holes closest to the plant. When filled with water they slowly drip the water out so it does not run on the surface. Instead it is absorbed into the ground around the roots. A stick is inside so anoles and other animals can climb out if they fall in.<br/><br/>I have been using these for years in our sandy soil. Mine were made as it is easier to water that way and using less water is a bonus.<br/><br/>I made 8 of them and move them from plant to plant over a 4 day rotation. Just wish we would get rain so it would wash some of the salt out of the soil from the hurricanes last year.
