This builds on our work across the stack, from core protocol development to wallets, privacy tools, and user-facing applications.

The Btrust starter grant provides support for software engineers ready to contribute full-time to open-source Bitcoin development. It allows recipients to explore areas of interest, identify a focus for long-term contributions, and engage deeply with the global Bitcoin developer community with relevant support via mentorship and without financial constraints.

Q1, 2026 starter grantees are:
• Michael Ariwaodo working on Cashu
• Frankline Omondi working on Bitcoin Core and bip353‑rs
• John Osezele working on Bitcoin Dev Kit and Rust Payjoin
• Victor Chabunda working on rust‑payjoin and UniFFI‑Dart
• Muhammad Shehu working on Payjoin Dev Kit and Bitcoin Dev Kit
• Sonkeng Maldini working on Bitcoin Dev Kit and Bitcoin Core

The Btrust Open-Source Cohort offers long-term support to established Bitcoin open-source contributors, promoting a collaborative environment for sustained development.

Members receive funding paid monthly in bitcoin, mentorship, and peer support to deepen their work on critical Bitcoin open-source projects. The cohort model aims to build a resilient, inclusive developer ecosystem, enabling contributors from the Global Majority to make meaningful, lasting impacts on Bitcoin's open-source ecosystem.

Q1, 2026 long-term grantees are:
• Chuks Agbakuru working on Lightning Dev Kit
• Peter Tyonum working on Bitcoin Dev Kit
• Enigbe Ochekliye working on Lightning Dev Kit with a focus on research
• Tobechi Chukwuleta working on BTCPay Server

Learn more about the recipients and what they’re working on in the blog: https://blog.btrust.tech/q1-2026-btrust-developer-grant-announcement

Applications for Btrust developer grants are open year-round, with new grantees announced quarterly.

If you’re a developer looking to contribute to Bitcoin open source projects, we encourage you to apply.

Learn more about Btrust developer grants here: https://www.btrust.tech/grants/developer

2026-04-01T20:03:01Z https://nostr.now/nevent1qqs88wn32gdkhs4r6pk92f89mkd0jv4r7j6362whzj02v3u0r05nl2czyzzduzyg9dhrvuzu7evjaevwvvkadcyjm4suzvvjljqvh0qvhjpvcveyyuk Eid Mubarak 💚 2026-03-20T16:10:04Z https://nostr.now/nevent1qqs94e878flavhulm2w42a6x20mkgheajvp5llvkujrwhagj2x39dyczyzzduzyg9dhrvuzu7evjaevwvvkadcyjm4suzvvjljqvh0qvhjpvcgtz8z4 Ramadan Kareem, May Allāh accept our Ibādah this holy month 💚 2026-02-18T13:27:11Z https://nostr.now/nevent1qqsyfwalqavghm6e8dlhn04gz2kdcykj6dhppgdg5t5sc6xcncpmsqgzyzzduzyg9dhrvuzu7evjaevwvvkadcyjm4suzvvjljqvh0qvhjpvc2sqags Btrust Builders cooking in 2026 🔥

quoting
nevent1q…ns95
Bitcoin’s open‑source ecosystem only thrives when contributors are supported not just to learn, but to stay, grow, and lead.

In 2026, we’re evolving Btrust Builders into a scaled, high‑quality contributor pipeline designed for long‑term impact. This year’s program builds directly on the insights from our 2025 Builders experience, with clearer structure, stronger systems, and a deeper commitment to sustained open‑source contribution.

The 2026 Builders journey is designed as one continuous path. Developers enter through open applications or via the BOSS challenge, move through structured learning pathways, accelerate through a selective Open Source Fellowship, and progress toward grants, long‑term contribution, and ecosystem roles.

What makes Builders 2026 different is our focus on durable outcomes. We care about retention as much as graduation. We care about whether developers are still contributing six to twelve months later. And we care deeply about creating a program that is sustainable for both participants and faculty.

This year includes multiple entry points, clearly defined pathways, an always‑on Resource Hub, a ten‑week Open Source Fellowship, and a calendar that creates a steady rhythm of learning, contribution, and outcomes throughout the year.

If you’re a developer interested in contributing to Bitcoin open‑source, or someone exploring what that journey looks like, we invite you to learn more.

Read the full blog to understand the 2026 program design, explore the Builders Pathways, check out the 2026 program calendar and apply to join this year’s cohorts: https://blog.btrust.tech/introducing-the-2026-btrust-builders-program/

If you’re not ready to apply yet, the Builders Resource Hub (https://pathways.btrust.tech/resource-hub) is always available and designed to help you start learning and making your first contributions.

2026-02-16T17:33:50Z https://nostr.now/nevent1qqs07pfv9xfg0rppy5amcpcnl4s6ce7kamlx2ml2ku27g04865xrlkgzyzzduzyg9dhrvuzu7evjaevwvvkadcyjm4suzvvjljqvh0qvhjpvc3aq64u Always value your boundaries above any comfort that could come from its violation. 2026-02-10T14:03:42Z https://nostr.now/nevent1qqsxdh6am0246lwyeq0zkmmffkz072d9ualgjn93kd7l6n6qp5ygxxqzyzzduzyg9dhrvuzu7evjaevwvvkadcyjm4suzvvjljqvh0qvhjpvcu2p7al Hell yeah! 🇳🇬🔥🔥
2026-01-17T18:35:07Z https://nostr.now/nevent1qqs8g3ylw0q95akgrhqp8mr85zs4p72l67shpcn24shl5tp77gzxr0qzyzzduzyg9dhrvuzu7evjaevwvvkadcyjm4suzvvjljqvh0qvhjpvcs9k0hj Huge congratulations to the winners 🔥

quoting
nevent1q…gm2s
It’s time to build.

Two months ago, we asked developers to bring bitcoin to open-source apps. Hopefully, we will see silent payments integrated down the line, too.

Nevertheless, as a Proton user, I look forward to seeing how the Proton Wallet evolves 🔥

- - -

More Reading 📌

- Initial announcement: https://proton.me/blog/proton-wallet-launch
- The wallet's security model: https://proton.me/blog/proton-wallet-security-model
- Github repo: https://github.com/ProtonWallet/andromeda
- Potential future dependencies: https://github.com/ProtonWallet/andromeda/commit/211dc5a86f20455cdba99e0a51a37a61ef70577c 2024-07-24T19:57:36Z https://nostr.now/nevent1qqsv3rnl5prslxr2napnw2v6jlek0pm0sk0aesf9vdljjj6ka74wy5gzyzzduzyg9dhrvuzu7evjaevwvvkadcyjm4suzvvjljqvh0qvhjpvczhch5z The African Bitcoin ecosystem will ONLY move forward when we have more builders and value creators than talkers and value extractors. 2024-06-27T22:10:34Z https://nostr.now/nevent1qqsq7n8x7q9q74sa2dycxvmvhagmlzentgpvkhe628rpfwrannhdzjczyzzduzyg9dhrvuzu7evjaevwvvkadcyjm4suzvvjljqvh0qvhjpvcga9huk In my latest piece for Forbes Crypto, I highlight the whirlwind of events following the controversial finance bill, the protests and its success, the resilience of the youth and their view of Bitcoin's role in Kenya's future 🇰🇪 ❤️

Noelyne Sumba, a stellar Kenyan Bitcoiner and Machakura team member, put it best, "Many young Kenyans see Bitcoin as a way to escape the restrictive monetary policies imposed by international financial institutions, which have contributed to the country's economic challenges.
