The law was created in 2022 in response to the Unification Church. The practices of huge percentages of the populations of many countries would violate this law. Imagine trying to pass a law like this in the US, where so many people vehemently believe that threatening their children with eternal damnation is a (literally) God-given right and duty. But to be honest, I live in Japan, and I have to wonder how well this law is enforced.

I'm confused, because they can't replicate it, yet I lived this experiment myself and have the broken rib X-rays to prove it. I'm watching Zero Hour! (1957) for the first time, on the Internet Archive. It's the very serious movie on which the 1980 comedy Airplane! is based. So much of this movie ended up in Airplane!, and while the scenes here are absolutely standard fare, it's a hoot to see the scenes that are directly parodied in the comedy. I recently saw someone on here complain bitterly and angrily about being unfollowed, and honestly that made me think I should unfollow that person too, and that's what I ended up doing. I don't believe there's a right or wrong way to use social media (unless you're being abusive, which is obviously wrong), but I do believe that we all have a right to unfollow, block, or mute whoever we want to without apology or excuse. Even as a kid, it drove me nuts that sci-fi movies and shows where people are made extremely small (or extremely enlarge, for that matter) ignore this kind of physics. Even setting aside the problem of shrinking the molecules of the body, it's not at all clear that a miniaturized human could drink water without instantly flooding their little lungs. Would tear ducts function? How would human blood behave in a miniaturized circulatory system? Could it absorb oxygen?

Facebook distorted our concept of relationships by digging up everyone we ever knew, went to school with, are remotely related to, and convinced us that it was normal and even essential that we interact with these people regularly. Before Facebook, we found ways to keep in touch with people who are important to us, and (naturally, properly) allowed others to fade away.
