Another [@404mediaco](https://mastodon.social/@404mediaco ) scoop on Proton. It's extremely disappointing as a long time user to see the leadership not understand their mission or their clients wants. At the end of the day it's about trust. Proton is built around the idea that they can be more trusted stewards of people personal data and services than traditional Big Tech firms. The story here shows a leadership team hell bent on bankrupting that trust.

The treasure is not the hand produced code but the labor that goes into creating the code, processes, trust and community. Idolizing code at the expense of labor and often the glue work has often been a problem throughout many open source projects.

A very large part of what makes AI so dangerous in the techno fascist project is its explicit use as a means to break labor.

On the other hand we have traditional open source built on the ideas of equality and fairness this open source is explicitly political and grounded in liberation.

ChapterHouse is the last one that Frank wrote so it's a very natural ending. It's written as a conclusion to the story and doesn't pretend it's not. They are typically small social networks unlikely to catch the attention of regulators. But that's partially why it's so folks are so opinionated about server size.
