Otherwise it's quite rare; Pali sees probably more use. For English-speaking Buddhists there are only a handful of Sanskrit terms they ever really need to have ready to rock, so to speak, at any given time. That one in particular surely gets more play time than any other, simply because being able to articulate the concept in a single term is very useful for illustrating what Madhyamaka is saying, as opposed to the many things it is *not* saying (it's confused with nihilism so often that I had someone quite interested in it just today ask whether or not it was a form of nihilism). Curious how we got from "middle way" to the title for board exams though.

Nagarjuna's view, and mine so far as I have ever understood it, is that following this logic leads to absurd outcomes that do not make sense within a framework of phenomena arising/appearing, persisting, and passing away. Nagarjuna's principal targets were Sautrantikas, whom he saw as smuggling in an essentialism foreign to the rejection of the tetralemma, but this was give or take 2,000 years ago, and even at the time so far as I know, the term could be used to refer to 'personality' among a bevy of other forms. Among Buddhist theory at the time (or at a minimum, just after) so far as I know, 'pudgala' tended to be used for 'persona' rather than 'svabhava,' but when it comes to its modern usage outside of a Buddhist context, I'm certainly out of my depth.

Home from Backrooms. It was tense, we love architectural phantasmagoria don't we folks, but this movie was done better story-wise by Piranesi for sure, there's not much "story" here to work with. There was one scene set to The Caretaker and I had to struggle not to throw popcorn. But for establishing a tone and becoming a tense movie, it does that fine. As always there's a related constellation of fears underpinning it; does money justify everything, do you think?? Do we run from connection with one another out of fear??? Capitalism global warming hoarding artificiality zoomers family guy clips subway surfers????? But I do simply think it's a fun setting idea if only because I was, true to all those jingling keys posts, never bored

(Business Insider voice) Giuseppe and his family have been making hentai in the Etruscan style for generations. Now, his is one of the few families left capable of making hentai that would have been legible to the late Romans. The techniques have stayed almost unchanged in 1500 years.

Man goes to doctor, says life has lost all its joy. All except for watching Pagliacci. Doctor prescribes him a standard SSRI. Patient asks the doctor if he's sure he doesn't just want the patient and others who are depressed to go see the famous clown Pagliacci who is local and plays many shows around and is very funny. Doctor says he never heard of Pagliacci and so can't recommend him professionally. Patient insists Pagliacci is a laugh riot, easily one of the funniest comedians to come on the scene in the last 10 years and sure to cure anyone's depression. Patient says Pagliacci ought to be on national TV. Doctor says he vaguely recalls a local access show from a while back but can't confirm it was Pagliacci. Says depression requires more than a funny routine to cure. Patient begins to raise his voice and insist Pagliacci is SNL material at bare minimum
