seems to be an issue with the industry worldwide - I have a friend who had a cafe in Sydney who struggled with that too, and another here in Glasgow has a restaurant and she's been driven mad by the churn/people being appointed and then leaving as soon as they've completed training. I don't know what can be done about it@

Thursday eve: concert at school where daughter sang in choir, sang solo, played fiddle solo & played in folk group. Loads of children performed, and it was a truly excellent night.

Friday eve: Glasgow Gaelic Musical Association concert - fabulous night of music, one of the best GG concerts ever, imo.

Sunday eve: CREATE spring concert. Daughter played violin in string orchestra with 100s of other children involved in various groups.

Music is alive and well in Glasgow!

Mum's house is well-insulated and she has a wood-burning stove, so that's something at least, but no way of cooking, no light etc, and it's getting dark early over here now. Let's hope they can get it sorted soon, as while SSEN have sent food vans to other places, they didn't send anything to Kilchoan. Two local places, Fika Coffee, and Mingary Castle, have been stepping up and helping provide hot food for people, but there's only so much they can do.

Australia Post is chronic - I'm always amazed (appalled) by how long it takes to get stuff delivered even just from one part of Sydney to another! I mean, Royal Mail is falling apart at the seams and you practically have to sell a kidney to buy a stamp these days, but I can post something one afternoon and know it'll reach its destination a couple of hundred miles away the next day.

We saw David Tennant in #Macbeth on Friday night in #ThatLondon. He was excellent. Lots of interesting things about this production, not least the fact that there was less of a focus on the machinations of Lady Macbeth as supervillian and more on Macbeth himself being the decision-maker. I thought the headphones did allow for more light and shade, but they were also something of a barrier between audience and performers, imo. #HaroldPinterTheatre

yes I guess it is a euphemism when translated, but I'd say that it isn't such a euphemism in Gaelic; it's just the word we use to mean someone has died 🤷🏼‍♀️ FWIW I have only ever used died when talking about family/friends (in English), but I think using a figure of speech when offering condolences to others is OK. Interesting to think about this!

Agree with you on not being a fan of passed. It's somehow so much worse than passed away.
