He was approached sometime in late 2019 when the FBI requested he allow them arbitrary access to his exit node and allow them to decrypt traffic. He denied their request.

Subsequently, in February, 2020 his home was raided. He was arrested for violating the CFAA (Computer Fraud and Abuse Act). It was alleged that he was a disgruntled ex-employee causing problems at his former place of employment.

Interestingly, to "help resolve the matter", law enforcement requested he decrypt his Tor exit node to prove his innocence (???). After he refused, he was held in a pre-trial detention cell for over 3 years. He was denied bail after law enforcement stated Mr. Rockenhaus used Linux to "access the dark web" and he was "not complying" and not allowing them access to this Tor exit node.

After Mr. Rockenhaus' wife filed an official complaint, and Mr. Rockenhaus was miraculously released, he was raided by the United States Marshal Fugitive Task Force TWO TIMES(???).

They took him out his home, threw him to the ground, beat him, smashed his windows, and threatened to murder his animals.

They are still requesting Mr. Rockenhaus allow them to access his Tor exit node. Mr. Rockenhaus still has not granted them that privilege.

All of this has been captured on home security camera footage. Additionally, his wife has released all court documents.

See subsequent post for more information.” -vxunderground, on X

https://www.reddit.com/r/TOR/comments/1ni5drm/the_fbi_couldnt_get_my_husband_to_decrypt_his_tor/ 2025-09-16T16:19:27Z https://nostr.now/nevent1qqsw45atsylffc2segr0x96rkxlkyv2zeyk9yvtxr2wyw6x22dewpdgzyq0cxrwcw5fsky60hulj0f57anvxzwjfjay2wx66yud8r8lt4c2w6txc45a SeedSigner (npub17ty…3mgl)'s Creed:

This is my SeedSigner. It’s all fucked. But, you can’t exactly build it yourself and building in risk tolerance at the hw level is annoying as hell too. So at some point you gotta get over it & have some amount of trust in at least the manufacturer, to some extent. But as a generalist sysadmin, I’m able to help speed things up & support the decisions affecting different tradeoffs. For example, raspberry pi’s are fucking garbage - so I’d be able to explain why it’s a waste of your time and money setting up lightning infrastructure & expecting it to be robust.

Software wise, I’m using foss. Sure you can’t easily audit if I fucked with it, but I can easily make sure that you can replace the software yourself to avoid that. Proxmox is the right tool to use for this ime, and you should consider buying from me to pick up on how to use it, not to deploy a full trusted & robust stack right out of the gate. This should be like playing in the playground for most plebs. 2024-01-25T17:54:20Z https://nostr.now/nevent1qqswe5wjfmpqujr9thkvpzkl7nyheq5ylq6hkvuxt2anjpn6jz4523gzyq0cxrwcw5fsky60hulj0f57anvxzwjfjay2wx66yud8r8lt4c2w6lz5yjx Fastest lnd infra spinup, go 2024-01-10T14:07:00Z https://nostr.now/nevent1qqs9a4e0rvwryp85wyc52xw5s4fu25rmhqdajagkvdcfwvmm9e3ytkczyq0cxrwcw5fsky60hulj0f57anvxzwjfjay2wx66yud8r8lt4c2w6hye06j Hey nostr, I have some nodes to sell!

Not only could you get some solid hardware (even Start9 (npub126n…e9ll) started selling some of these), but you also get my time & expertise. We’ll figure out how you need me to spend my time to help you - I am looking to be a resource to plebs trying to navigate migrating away from a rpi, devs looking to cleanup their digital environment, or enterprises looking to scale their solutions.

Laptop & desktop purchasers will be guided on installation, setup, & maintenance of their new physical & virtual servers! Proxmox is FOSS software we will use to allow for the commoditization of all of your machine’s resources, allowing you to get the most out of your purchase. With one physical machine, you'll be able to cram a dozen virtual ones inside while I'll show you how to manage their compute/memory/storage requirements and interactions.

These are used ebay purchases, I'm not trying to profit off the hardware, just stacking sats with my time. Shipping or pickup at #chibitdevs included. Until I offload this hardware and complete the hourlies, I’ll be restricting my assistance to these buyers. But, I'll likely eventually offer support for byo hw/sw.

https://btcpay.dimi.gg is now live, please chat with me before a purchase if you have any questions.
