Very easily, vexxed commenter. Stevenson's She-Ra had a non-binary character, and she approved of a fan theory that one of the princesses was a TIM. One of the main characters was also reimagined to be more like one of Stevenson's D&D characters. Despite the supposed leaps in representation the series made, it was basically an extremely self-indulgent fanfic AU. I found it unbearable, yet some still think it's peak cartoon.

Gender thoughts have very little to do with self-reflection, in my opinion. That type of navel gazing is too focused on "what makes me feel good?" to support improvement and understanding. "What makes me feel good?" Is a band-aid, a short term, small scale solution. It WILL make you feel good when you answer that question, and that feeling can help you along in life, but it can also hinder you. Trap you in a solipsistic, hedonistic, and/or juvenile mindset.

I'm getting really sick of people telling me to have fun and dance with my whole body only to later tell me to shrink down so I fit in the group better. I'm 5'10" and highly visible on stage. I was watching a YT video, but didn't finish it. It was about "being yourself" and the two main premises were:
1. Being yourself is not a passive state, but active choices.
2. Do not let the fear of disappointing someone prevent you from making these choices.

She attempted to temper the implication that being completely self-involved and not caring about other people, their opinions, and their lives was the correct path, so I kept watching. It was an interesting concept, especially when applied to being a professional creative. There's a lot of fear of "disappointing the audience" where making bold creative choices are concerned.

She lost me when she started in on how disappointing your parents/authority figures in some way is necessary to grow. It's not that I reject this idea, I agree with it. HOWEVER, she began listing things that you could do to disappoint your parents in a rather prescriptive way, and much of it was very stereotypical, 18-year-old rebellion stuff. Get a tattoo, a weird piercing, wear inappropriate clothing. Aside from "choose the career path that makes you happy" and "eat food other people don't like" it was rather superficial and vaguely consumerist. And perhaps, benefit of the doubt, she later discussed the performative aspects of self and the ironically conformist nature of identification with "counter-culture" movements, but I had to start making dinner.

I watched a movie that was about a young man who was presumed gay seemingly falling in love with a woman. It started out as an intriguing exploration of gay stereotyping and navigating differences in libido. They even made a vaguely gender critical joke about therapists unhelpfully bringing gender ideology into a conversation about confused sexuality.

Pretty much all his life, people told the main character he was going to be gay. To them, his personality and interests couldn't mean anything else, and he went along with it. He wasn't particularly into his first sexual experience though, and just generally disinterested in, perhaps even disgusted by, sex. Then he meets the female lead and they're like soumates. She's strongly implied to have trauma from sexual assault, so she doesn't particularly want sex either. It's perfect for a while, though others don't understand it. The woman eventually wants their relationship to be physically intimate, which he can't bring himself to do. He then has a make out session with a gay man who was trying to prove that he was nothing but gay. The MC seems more willing to be physical with men. The leads break up because they can't seem to reconcile these differences and the man falls into a depression. He runs to reunite with her, he can't seem to live without her. She questions how it could ever work out, but she's willing to try.

We then cut to the near future, where it's heavily implied that the solution to their problem was... to be in a throuple with another man.
Absolute cop-out ending. No discussion about the nuances of bisexuality or the concept of platonic soulmates. Nope, they just need an extra man that they both can bang I guess. Ruined the whole thing.

I had my first genuine crush in my mid/late 20s and haven't had one since. It made me giddy, but also anxious? The guy wasn't extremely physically attractive or anything. He was just nice and kind of funny and he bothered to talk to me/text with me outside of what we were doing when we met. We ended up having three dates and when we kissed on the third (my first) it felt boring and empty very quickly. He was way more into it than me. I think the concept of mourning clothes is actually pro-social. It allows the bereaved to exist in public life without needing to explain their emotional state to every person they encounter. It allows those who encounter the bereaved to make decisions about how they're going to interact (or not interact, if that's kinder to both parties) with them.

I don't want to get too specific, but my city's chapter of a notable organization was holding an important cultural event. They used AI to make the fliers and it was ugly and stereotyped, toeing the line of offensive. There wasn’t any quality control; the "illustration" had a crowd where some of the figures had no heads. I'm not even part of the group the event was for and I was appalled. A simple description in a nice font would've been more dignified than that.

There's an art YouTube channel that I've watched for quite some time because they're funny and have genuinely helped me improve my digital art in many ways. But it's getting harder to tune in because they've ramped up the sexual stuff recently.
They always did bizarre stuff, and raunchiness was NEVER off the table, but it wasn't this in-your-face beofre. The sex jokes weren't as constant, bald-faced, or as gross. I even came back after they made trans their pet cause, but this pornrot is consuming the content far worse than gender cultism ever did.

Also, one of the female artists started frequently using "c*nty" in the drag queen way that's supposedly not misogynistic but to me is still incredibly degrading to women. It twists my stomach every time I hear it.

Watched a short documentary about music in Istanbul. Naturally Islam came up. The quick, let's get-this out-of-the-way sort of conversation they had about Islam's "bad reputation" and how the religion is actually about peace landed awkwardly, what with the unaddressed cloud of sexism/misogyny hanging over the whole special. And that's not even getting into how some Islamic extremists are trying to take music away from people in the regions they control.

The host was traveling with his wife. There are several scenes where she politely covers her hair to visit a mosque. They visit an antique fabric store, and one of the items is the colorful, beautifully woven face-piece of a burka. The wife stammers, doesn't know how to react, and the shopkeeper moves on to another item. It is mentioned that a highly-regarded female folk musician is playing an instrument "traditionally played by men." There is no mention of what instruments women traditionally played, nor an explanation why men got to play that one exclusively.

After I watched this, I thought about the Afghan women who have had their humanity stripped away completely. The Muslim world, especially those in areas not controlled by extremists, has to reckon with the things causing the religion's "bad reputation," but it won't. Those with power under that system are terrified it'll crumble if they acknowledge the flaws. If condemning deep cruelty will cause your religion to fail, how can you claim it's about peace?
