Second attempt at hunting down a usable #Fairphone5 was a success. Was able to update/call/reset/unlock bootloaders all successfully! Got it all working with #UbuntuTouch too so i can test with it first and then swap to #Postmarketos to test with that. Will eventually get a review up on both UT and PMOS with it but that is behind the #Librem5 crimson review i still need to work through and then will probably hold out til 26.04 UT is out.

#MobileLinux #LinuxMobile

My #fairphone5 just arrived today and is in such great condition but sadly it is stuck in retail mode and i don't see any way to exit it, during the setup process it mentions that it is managed by an organization and to use the reset option to exit that but the reset option is locked out and doing a reset via the recovery just puts me in the setup wizard as well.

Anyone ever get a retail fairphone and know how to escape it out? I dont really want to go through the return process.

#fairphone

That comes out to just shy of 5 hours. No idea on what kind of time that would transfer over to the L5, especially since the CPU/GPU on the FLX1 are way faster on the L5 so wouldnt be exactly apples to apples. I should give it a test on my L5 and see how it handles atleast audio + logging the workout.

Working through updating the #FLX1 review i wrote up a while ago and my god hopefully future phones I test both do and dont have similar battery life. I want to have full battery life numbers instead of just estimations so from 100% to the phone is off. Standby test without a sim and wifi on the entire time has been going 164 hours and still has another 16% to go. No deep sleep. Luckily the last battery test i need. Im also updating the review structure a bit to show more info.
#mobilelinux

Looks like the #liberux #mobilelinux phone finally released their indiegogo. Looks pretty expensive for people to buy into a companies first product. The good thing about rk3588 base is atleast collabora is pushing the mainline development forward so if they go bust its not dead in the water. Its still too expensive though for a community to sprout from it like the pine devices. I wish them the best but it seems to expensive for me to purchase one with the risk of it not materializing.

For my #mobilelinux peeps here are instructions on setting up widevine L3 so you can atleast access some DRM content. I have tested this on the furilabs #FLX1 and #pinephonepro and they both now have widevine support. Biggest thing for me is spotify web pwa, some people can use it to view 480p atleast on netflix assuming you set the UA correctly. This should work on all #ARM based device as it is software based. Thanks #AsahiLinux for creating the script
https://blog.luigi311.com/widevine/

#linuxmobile

Initial release of the #immich upload daemon is ready for people to use and report the tons of issues it probably has lol. You can find it here https://github.com/luigi311/immich_upload_daemon Feel free to open any issues/PR. Its still missing the charging only option but the networking features are there so you can set wifi only and/or SSID checking and you can even just check for metered connections. Mostly developed on my and for my #FLX1 via remote vscode.
#mobilelinux #linuxmobile #pinephone

Looking at the specs its really new and modern so performance and efficiency should hopefully be amazing. That of course does depend on if power saving modes can even be activated. In case anyone is wondering those eSIM adapters really do work. It lets you add eSIM to any phone including #mobilelinux devices. I tried out the jmp.chat one on my #flx1 and it now has service through a jmp.chat eSIM. Programming them isn't as easy as it is on android though where you just download an app and install the eSIM. You instead need to get some details from the provider such as a QR code and what equates to a one time password.

For those of you moving from android ios to #linuxmobile I created this quick guide on how to migrate over things like your contacts, calendar and emails. So far i've only done it for #phosh / #gnomeonmobile so i still need to add the other DEs like plasma/lomiri/sxmo since they use different applications. Let me know what you guys think of the design. I was considering adding photos but didnt want to clutter it to much.

https://blog.luigi311.com/migrate-mobile-linux/

#mobilelinux

I finally got around to writing about another #LinuxMobile device. I was originally going to do the pinephone pro but I decided to wait for 6.11 so I can include the new camera driver. Instead I tested the Furi Labs (npub1pl0…qn57) #flx1 . Its been a great phone and is one of the best working linux phones I've tested. It does have caveats so its not perfect for everyone. Biggest is US support is limited until they release new modem firmware soon:TM:. Its also #halium based. https://blog.luigi311.com/furilabs-flx1/
