Rumors are that Debian is going to do some work on their implementation (which i've also used - NOT devuan) and that could be good, it was a little buggy and pushed me to #gentoo Did you ever try the Debian openRC init? I had it running with Forky and its my backup OS when/if I tank my gentoo on the laptop.

Gentoo elogin update seems to be breaking KDE login (or sddm login). Drops to a flashing unresponsive screen. Happy to be able to restore with timeshift, but had to block (mask) elogind updates for now. I was only upgrading 2 packages, that and kernel 7.0.6, and its not the kernel.

#gentoo #Linux #elogind

Devuan is a little limiting imho, especially since you can get Debian running with openRC just fine, its just a little quirky and requires some manual init.d file fabrication. Artix has some similarities with devuan in that u are limited to smaller repos (Debian has over 70,000 pkgs available, and arch probably more if you include AUR).

I miss pacman, but gentoo is proving pretty robust! Just a PITA to install.

I'd love something that combines the best of all of em! 😆 Is that too much to ask?!

I got lots of other good ideas, but just dont know how to get others on board.
