I found this map of Kanto and I love it because it reminds me of the times when old magazines included maps like these for each level in a videogame. The creator also explains in their blog (https://blog.vjeux.com/2023/project/pokemon-red-blue-map.html) the process.

It's nothing that hasn't been done before, I know. But normally they don't include the interiors.

Animal Crossing is getting weird.

First I go into Ankha's house and Nerea was there. And then Nerea sits on Ankha's toilet while Ankha was looking. I of course left them do whatever. Then Megan spots me while I was outside and asks me to go to my house. Then she tells me how she would like to stay and asks me if I am looking for a room mate (that's not a posibility though). Then she turns out the microwave and starts singing. She wasn't lying about staying at my house, she's not leaving. What now?

That was VirtualBox (since 6.0 iirc), but Windows XP still works in vmware. The only thing they did is to stop updating vmware tools for old systems but you can install the last version and use 3D acceleration. Playing games in it is a hit or miss situation though, many games won't work or will show glitches and many others will work and you will be like "how does this work?". For instance, I know goldsrc games work if you set the renderer to OpenGL. Some Unreal Engine 1 games also work, but some others dont. Also many 3D accelerated user interfaces will show graphical glitches, though the software works anyways.

I get people doing recompilations of old games that are hard to emulate for specific reasons or that can't be ran in their native platforms anymore like old windows games and all that, but why would anybody recompile a game like Sonic Mania? That game runs perfectly natively on Windows and Linux.

You would think, "well maybe they want to run it on Mac or maybe on ARM or something?" THE PROJECT IS ONLY TARGETING x86 WINDOWS AND LINUX.

Kinda a hot take, but...

"It's my opinion!"

It's not your opinion. Its someone else's opinion. You just took it as if it was your own, but its not yours. And this is fine, this is how the human brain works. We're sociable creatures. We learn from others.

However, it is important that, when those opinions are challenged, you carefully consider if those opinions are really true or not. Do you have something to back that opinion? If you're not sure, don't take them as facts anymore.

If someone presents you with a counter-argument that challenges that opinion and the counter argument is correct and valid, please stop supporting those opinions. They are not valid anymore and they do not hold true.

Most people will try to implant their opinions in you so that you accept them as yours and then spread them. That's how social movements start and how cultural wars start. Don't let that happen. Stop defending things that are proven wrong.

I did the gender census thing.

As I said in my profile bio extension post, I consider myself agender or non binary because I don't really fit with any of the gender stereotypes, I'm just myself. I don't want to be a "man" or a "woman" in that sense. But I don't really care about people addressing me with the he/him pronouns or calling me a boyfriend or whatever. It's just that I dont feel like I fit with the stereotypes of a man, nor a woman. Thats it. I dont wan to be strong. I dont want to be a hard worker person. I dont want to be an "alpha" like the kids call it these days. That's it. Sometimes I do things that fit more in the "woman" stereotype, sure. Because I do what I do. Which doesnt mean that I can't do "man" things as well.

2026-07-12T22:27:54Z

I feel sorry for the people who is still stuck on Winblows. Not just the operating system itself, but the whole ecosystem. I made a Tiny10 vm in qemu (which by the way, with the VirtIO drivers and 3D acceleration enabled its actually usable) because I wanted to try a digital signature application made by the gobernment. So I installed that, and also installed Acrobat Reader. Not because there aren't better alternatives but because I wanted to use the most standard environment to see if everything worked.

Acrobat Reader is DISGUSTING right now. Bloated, has AI integrations, and on top of that it also installed some photoshop cloud image editor or something I didn't even ask for. Of course, more AI crap. They don't know what to do to force people to use AI to boost their AI usage metrics and show their investors pretty graphs.

Had I installed Windows 11 it would have been insufferable. Probably unusable too.

I'm so disgusted that, in fact, I'm considering just removing the virtual machine, because turns out I don't really need it anymore. I wanted to use the digital signature application but it turns out gnome's default document viewer can properly sign the documents, but not verify the signature for some reason (although I checked with acrobat reader and it says it is valid and verified). I guess I have to add the CA somewhere but I don't know where.

As for photoshop, I mean... It might come in handy but I also don't really need it "per se". The thing is that there are certain tools and things that work better in Photoshop than in other alternatives but that's about it. For instance I can use Pinta for most of the stuff, but things like selections are more tedious and imprecise, Photoshop algorithms for selections are better.

I don't want to install vmware but qemu is not very good for old operating systems like xp :(

VMWare has decent video emulation but if you try to use the vmware device on QEMU with Windows XP it... doesn't work. And that sucks.

But if I install vmware then I need to manually compile the god damn kernel modules (it requires kernel modules) and I hate that.

Where did she get those mommy milkers?

We need to go back in consumer technology. And I mean this. ...

2026-07-01T19:27:11Z

We need to go back in consumer technology. And I mean this. It's not a nostalgic reason anymore, there is a practical reason.

For instance, I saw Gamer Nexus talking about a new company that wants to produce GPUs for the consumer market. I appreciate the effort, realy, but even Intel didn't get it right in the two iterations of their GPUs when they tried to get into the market. Besides, these devices are very complex and even if you want to get into it you still TSMC to produce the chips for you. And if TSMC is priorizing AI chips there isn't much you can do.

I feel like older technologies would be easier and cheaper to produce at this point. Instead of producing newer technology chips, start by creating a foundry that produces older technologies with simpler architectures, get them into the market, and from there move on to better architectures until you can dispute the monopoly of TSMC and other companies. Apparently they keep the robots used to produce these chips as a trade secret and nobody has access to them or something like that.

If you think about that we don't really need this much computing power anyways. I said this a million times and I stand to my point, that the new GPUs are just wasting watts of power for no reason when games could be optimized to look better with much less resources. It's just a way to enable game companies to make AAA graphics cheaper, easier and faster, while at the same time giving people a reason to waste money on a more expensive piece of hardware. This is anything but efficient.

It would also be easier this way to have new companies to get into the market. They could start with more primitive devices and progress to develop better hardware without requiring years of research and development as it is the case now.

Of course the big tech companies are going to lobby against this idea but it's not about them, it's about us.

After so many years playing BW2 I now realized that there is a patch of grass in Floccesy Ranch that actually has no grass in it. That's an oversight.

I still don't quite fully understand why it's happening. The US released some job data showing unemployement was being reduced, but I'm not sure if investors are seeing the demand for AI being reduced or if there is other reasons why this data might have made them sell. There is also the fact that Broadcom reported that they didn't meet their estimate sales in AI chips. They were a little bit under the estimate. And now every AI company is bleeding money, although at a slow pace.

The stock market opened and tech stocks are free falling again.

Sadly the dip is not that big yet, but it's been 3 consecutive days (minus Sunday, because the markets close).

Hope the trend stays like this but sadly I know it will stop at some point. They will announce some shit and investors will buy again.

No, not a million. BILLION. With a B. They are reporting more than one billion users. I made a mistake (and corrected it).
