Munich #BitcoinWalk last Saturday: just me & my dog Lilly 🐾 The moment I stopped waiting, the rain stopped. ☀️

And suddenly there was time. Time for nature, for my thoughts, for Lilly and me. My mind wandered to Bitcoin and to all the people and companies I've met in this space. That reminded me how grateful I am that Firefish exists 🔥🐟

2026-09-09T19:26:32Z

Nobody came to my first #BitcoinWalks in Munich.

So my dog Lilly and I went alone. It was wonderful. We had everything we needed: fresh air, the river, trees, sky – and time to simply enjoy it.

Last Saturday, two years and almost 100 walks later, we were alone again for the first time. Equally wonderful.

I love walking with other Bitcoiners – discussing topics close to our hearts, building community, meeting new faces. But there's something special about the solitude with my dog. More stillness, more intensity.

On this walk I thought about arguments for preserving #cash. One key reason: privacy.

Cash leaves no digital traces. No company or authority knows what I bought, how much, where, or when. We send our letters in envelopes, encrypt our emails and oppose chat control. – yet we expose our consumption habits completely, even though they reveal incredibly much about us.

Interesting contradiction.

What do you think – why should cash survive?

But it’s such a lovely memory … I’ll post it anyway.

BitcoinWalk Munich last Saturday — every Sat 🚶🏻‍♀️🐕☀️

33°C, bright sunshine and a beautiful route along the Isar.

My personal highlight? A tiny navigation mistake with a big upside. 😄
After taking a wrong turn on our way to the beer garden, another BitcoinWalker and I decided not to walk back — we simply jumped into a side arm of the Isar and let the current carry us towards our destination. 🌊

But of course, there was plenty to talk about too:

🔐 The Coldcard incident
A major wake-up call for the Bitcoin community: even with self-custody and a hardware wallet, there is no such thing as absolute security. A firmware bug from 2021 resulted in weak randomness for affected devices, allowing attackers to derive vulnerable seeds and steal more than 1,800 BTC – without ever having physical access to the devices.

⚡️ Blackouts & preparing for crises
How realistic is the risk of a nationwide blackout? Should we stock up on supplies? And what does being prepared really mean?

Maybe resilience is about much more than food and emergency supplies: physical fitness, mental strength, strong relationships and the ability to take responsibility for ourselves.

Bitcoin is so much more than money or an investment.

Ethics.
Self-sovereignty.
Freedom.

That’s what we explore on the BitcoinWalks – every Saturday, together.

Perfect little summer escape on Saturday: our BitcoinWalk in Munich. 🚶🐕☀️

Along the Isar, a shady side branch, a stop at the Gasthof Hinterbrühl beer garden and back to Tierparkbrücke.

Topics were mixed as always: non-KYC buying/selling, inflation, migration, “leave Germany or not?” and more.

What gets me every time: walking together makes conversation flow deeper than sitting ever does. These weekly walks build real community – I love it.

Try it, find a BitcoinWalk near you. Or start your own. 🧡

☀️ Sunny #BitcoinWalk on Saturday, with a bit of sightseeing on top! We passed Munich's surfer hotspot at Haus der Kunst, a second Eisbach wave, Friedensengel, and the Maximiliansanlagen before ending up at Hofbräukeller. 🚶🏻‍♀️🐕🌳

We also tried paying with #Bitcoin at Fräulein Grüneis – no luck. The POS device was down, and nobody could tell us when it'd be back. Ironically, the trendy kiosk doesn't take cash either, so we ended up paying by card. Not exactly what most Bitcoiners want to hear. 😅
My motto: cash or Bitcoin.

We ended the walk in a shady beer garden and agreed the Isar is much nicer without the tourist crowds – so next time we're heading further upstream.
Thanks to everyone who came out! Great conversations, as always. See you next Saturday 🙌🏼

I refused to look away — and I refused to wait for permission.

Forbes just featured The Six Billion Dollar Man: the Julian Assange documentary that asks the hard questions about power, journalism, and who decides which stories reach the rest of us. Uncomfortable enough that no streamer would touch it. So it's finding its own way.

Thank you to Forbes for the thoughtful feature.

Today, June 27 at 4 PM ET, you can watch for yourself — no middlemen, no gatekeepers.

When I started this film I didn't know Bitcoin was different from crypto.

Now I'm meeting people profoundly concerned with human rights — with how their money participates in shaping the world.

That matters a lot to me. That's what I do. And that's why I'm here, on this network, with you.

What a beautiful #BitcoinWalk in Munich this morning! 🐕☀️

Due to the heat, we moved our weekly walk to 8:30 AM – and despite the early hour, a loyal crew showed up. 🙌🏼

We strolled through the Maximiliansanlagen, with a refreshing Isar break (for my dog 🐾) and a longer stop at a café. Great conversations as always!

Two topics dominated today:

🎥 The lesfemmesorange (nprofile…8l7x) watch party next Saturday in Munich – screening „The Six Billion Dollar Man“, Eugene Jarecki’s documentary about #WikiLeaks and Julian Assange. A film with special meaning for the Bitcoin community: when WikiLeaks was cut off from PayPal, Visa, and Mastercard, Bitcoin stepped in.
The worldwide Bitcoin premiere is June 27.

✈️ And of course BTCPrague (npub167n…zu3r) – which blew me away again this year. The program was excellent, but it’s really about the people. It always feels like coming home to the international Bitcoin family. 🧡

The Bitcoin Educators #Unconference by myfirstbitcoin (npub17cy…4ml3) and AmityAge (npub17f0…v8ue) the day before was especially inspiring – I even pitched a project there. More on that soon!

Thank you to everyone who got up early today. The perfect start to the weekend. ☀️

At Bitcoin Prague, I introduced something that has never been done in the history of film.

We're inviting the Bitcoin community to become producers.

Not backers. Not fans.

Producers.

Because the story we're telling — WikiLeaks, Assange, financial censorship — is YOUR story.

And the gatekeepers don't want it seen.

Which means it's exactly the kind of film Bitcoin was made to protect.

Last Saturday at the #BitcoinWalk in Munich we completely forgot our obligatory foot photo – our Proof of Walk! 😄

We were too deep in conversation, so I fixed it afterwards with Canva.

Topics ranged from #Geoengineering, Bitcoin wallets and SeedSigner (nprofile…rt2v) to the Bitcoin Citadel in Croatia and BTCPrague (npub167n…zu3r).

Once again it showed how much conversation quality improves when we actually take time – for real thoughts, listening and open exchange.

Every walk along the beautiful #Isar is different and each one is special in its own way.

Last Saturday’s BitcoinWalk in #Munich wasn't about the pace – it was about the space. 🧡

We took our time.
Strolling along the #Isar, watching the surfers and eventually settling into a cozy beer garden. 🍻

As always, the conversation quickly moved way beyond #Bitcoin. We dove into AI, politics, societal shifts, and deeply personal stories.

That’s the magic of these walks: you never know who will show up, where the #conversations will lead, or how the afternoon will unfold. This time felt uniquely deep, open, and grounding.

Walking in nature changes how we connect. It makes us more reflective, more curious, and gives us the #space to truly listen. 🌱

2026-05-18T09:49:22Z

Last Saturday’s #BitcoinWalk in #Munich started with some bad news:

The Telegram account of Endo, the BitcoinWalk founder got hacked – compromising BitcoinWalk groups around the world that he had created. Shortly after the hack, I was kicked out of my own group. Over 100 members, 1.5 years of chats, pictures and memories – gone.

“Not your keys, not your coins” applies to identity too. 🔐

Some BitcoinWalk guides have now moved to #Flotilla, an app built on the #Nostr protocol. Censorship-resistant by design. 🤙🏼

During our walk along the river Isar, we also discussed a bigger question: how do we reach younger generations with #Bitcoin?

Retirement plans and savings accounts don’t exactly excite Gen Z. Yet inflation keeps eating away at purchasing power, building wealth is getting harder, and trust in pension systems is fading.

That’s where Bitcoin may matter most – not as speculation, but as a tool for financial self-sovereignty. No bank, no financial advisor, no permission needed.

After the walk, we planned our next adventures, especially BTCPrague (npub167n…zu3r). From June 11–13, Prague will once again become Europe’s Bitcoin hotspot with 10,000+ attendees, 200+ speakers and Europe’s biggest Bitcoin-only expo. One of my highlights every year. 🧡

2026-05-11T23:50:58Z

Last Saturday’s #BitcoinWalk in #Munich turned into much more than a conversation about Bitcoin.

Starting with the question of whether geopolitically driven kerosene shortages could soon ruin summer holidays for many Germans, we ended up discussing social tension, trust in institutions, and what makes people take to the streets.

At some point, “The Fourth Turning” by William Strauss and Neil Howe came up, alongside The Sovereign Individual, a near-cult classic among Bitcoiners.

And while philosophizing about crises, freedom, power shifts and #Bitcoin, enjoyed spring sunshine, the Isar river and cold beers at the lovely Konsum Kiosk. 🍻

That’s why I love these walks:
Bitcoin is rarely just Bitcoin.

“It’s in good hands.”

Then Satoshi Nakamoto disappeared.

In a world of founders chasing control, he/she/they let go.

No leader. No single point of failure.

Would Bitcoin exist like this if Satoshi had stayed?

Great #BitcoinWalk in Munich today!

Our highlights:

🧠 AI and Cognitive Offloading:
We discussed the serious risks of outsourcing our thinking. This trend is highly concerning as it can lead to a decline in critical thinking and even affect brain structure, especially in the developing brains of kids and teens. This is a fundamental challenge to how we use our minds.

🔐 AI and Privacy:
We’re looking into NanoGPT. The advantage is that data is stored directly on your own device (local storage) rather than on a central server, and you can use it without an account. A much-needed layer of privacy in the AI age.

⛏️ AI and Mining:
I’ve been thinking about the shift of miners toward AI data centers. If more players exit the market to pursue AI, it actually makes mining more lucrative for those who stay committed to the Bitcoin network. It was great to see an article confirming that even adam3us (nprofile…x6h9) shares this perspective.

An inspiring walk with much to think about. 🧡

Out again today with my favorite community – and my favorite dog 🐾

As a BitcoinWalk guide in #Munich, I look forward to our Saturday walks along the Isar every week. The group is always different: sometimes small, sometimes large, often ending in a café or beer garden.

People often ask what there’s so much to talk about when it comes to #Bitcoin. Today alone, conversations ranged from the Bitcoin halving and power law to banking, password security, health care and the big question: moving abroad – yes or no?

The critical mindset, openness, and joy of exchange among Bitcoiners continue to inspire me. Whether technical deep dives or philosophical chats, we always leave with fresh perspectives.

Thanks for a wonderful afternoon see you next Saturday 🧡

Yesterday – like every Saturday – was #BitcoinWalk day again in Munich.

Temperatures were around 0°C, but that didn’t stop a group of brave Bitcoiners. ❄️😀

Every walk is different – different weather, different people, sometimes a different route. And most of all, different conversations. You start walking, and somehow the thoughts start flowing. Bitcoin is often just the spark for everything that follows:

Bitcoin and architecture.
Bitcoin and society.
Bitcoin and politics.

Personal responsibility. Freedom. Our education system. The slow erosion of prosperity. Financial and health provision.

Family. Career. Dreams.

It’s always amazing to see how much energy these meetups create and how easy it is to start talking, even when people are meeting for the first time.

It was a pleasure to lead the group.

Thank you to everyone who joins regularly or just from time to time and makes the BitcoinWalks so special. 🧡

To everyone else: Find a BitcoinWalk near you – or simply start one yourself. It’s worth it.

Every SAT we connect with nature 🍂

Every Saturday, #BitcoinWalks take place around the world – including #Munich. Last weekend, 10 Bitcoiners gathered by the Isar to enjoy the last autumn sun before the winter solstice.

Instead of rushing through shops, we took time for meaningful conversations about #Bitcoin, current events, and life itself.
