Any recommendations for a VPN (not Mullvad) service and a solution for video conferences that’s not Google / Zoom / etc?

You couldn’t drag me back there, but I have to admit being off Twitter and Meta means I don’t see any announcements from game studios and most of the artists and cosplayers I followed are basically “gone” and I miss that content.

A few I follow tried other platforms and got sick of the perpetual morality and purity checks and just stopped using other platforms. :(

I finally replaced our cable FritzBox with a modem I can put in bridge mode. Latency down 30ms and hopefully no restarts of this thing every four to six weeks.

Now to figure out how to compensate for the lack of static IP which Vodafone doesn’t offer when you bring your own modem.

I’ll either simply use backup line static IP or finally deploy Netbird. I don’t think I’ll bother to run dynamic DNS, even if that wouldn’t be too bad to setup.

I helped out a friends team yesterday and filled a spot in their Marvel Rivals team for scrims. Fun evening.

But I have to say my mouse (Endgame Gear Xm2) / mousepad (Wallhack CR-005) combo got uncomfortable.

The aggressive claw grip the mouse requires combined with my large had and the fast pad really wasn’t pleasant.

I really like the idea of this combination, but I think it’s time to look at other options.

Upgraded one of my neglected Docker hosts from Debian 11 to 13. No hiccup at all except manually removing the docker-compose package going from 11 to 12.

I sometimes think I should be using CoreOS for these hosts, but Debian “just works” for me for nearly 3 decades now.
Staying on stable, having auto upgrade on these days and the hosts basically don’t need any handholding for very long times.

Not sure an immutable distro would buy me anything here. #Debian #CoreOS

I think they are fairly comparable and it really depends on what you want to get out of them. Neither is a bad choice but each has their own little niceties.

You can get them for a regular price, often discounted on Amazon. 600€ seems mostly standard price, discounted they should be around 470-500.

Just to add this as standard disclaimer: I’d consider both only for entertainment. I know some people can work with them, I’m not one of these people.

I played Elden Ring and Cyberpunk on it (on a friends switch 2) and have to say compared to the PC experience I’m used to the 30 to 40fps just don’t feel too good.

But he’s happy with it, mostly because he never played the games at high FPS.

If you are looking at the AAA titles and have a powerful enough PC for comparison you might be disappointed, otherwise likely fine? Solid customer advice… :D
