I often think of teddy bears.

It's not unusual for a human to love a teddy bear and to project onto a teddy bear and to imagine that the teddy bear loves them back.

But that's an act of fantasy and we generally agree that it's so. Adding a voice so a Teddy Ruxpin could talk didn't change it.

A teddy bear mathematically modeling how hurt feelings are expressed in words doesn't change it either.

It's disturbing that, for some, it seems to make the difference.

My #worldbuilding is silly, on the surface.

But then as you look deeper it's substantive.

And if you keep going deeper, to its core, it's FAR sillier than it seemed on the surface. The surface now looks like a sober examination of the human condition by comparison. You never knew how serious you had it and now it's too late to win that innocence back because this is just so dumb my God why would anyone go to that effort for something so silly underneath. 😭

And that's pretty much my method.

Fantastic!

The pizza hashtag has been really nice lately.

There were a couple of businesses that use it that I had to mute to still the business noise, but folks just posting snaps of pizza ... that's been a nice addition.

Midway through my 4th mug of Denny's coffee* and my stomach is considering filing for divorce.

Treasures of a Slaver's Kingdom was released on this day in 2007, and went freeware on this day in 2010.

If you've been in desperate need of a holiday tradition that includes a Delicate Doxy, a Voltaic Wraith, and a Rune-Carved Peg-Leg Dwarf you can swing around as a hand weapon, well ... that's a suspicious coincidence, to be honest. 🤨

Issue (ahem, 'episode') 7 of Interactive Entertainment bears the dubious distinction of being the only issue where I did the introductory voiceover. "Welcome to Episode 7 ... etc." Normally, Greg, our sound manager, did that, but he was down with a crud.

You can hear me in lots of the issues, but, 7 is the one where the reader was given no choice in the matter. 😬

Mostly I was a writer/department-editor, but also one of the yappers.

There are those in the #RetroGaming and #Emulation circles who consider it retro.

I personally don't consider anything from this century retro. 😁

To me, retro stops with the NES!

But I'm old.

Following from the above: I played Altered Beast for the first time tonight, in an emulator.

It's just a beat-em-up but it's alright. I can see the appeal.

I think I always imagined it was about a werewolf. But it's just a dude punching stuff. Maybe the werewolf is later. I didn't last long. 😅

It felt like an overdue checkbox on my "80s kid" list. Like how I never saw The Goonies until like 2017.

Idle #WorldBuilding exercise: invent a multi-generational backstory for a mashed potatoes recipe.

I'm not prompting you. I'm just describing where my head is at.

(Old videogames. IYKYK.)

But if you take it as a prompt, that's also cool.
