Because it's been far too long since I inflicted my fountain pen geekery on everyone else... ;)

Check out my new favorite cheap-but-delightful fountain pen to take with me everywhere in my handbag/purse! It's a WriTech clictek retractable nib, it only cost £9.99 on sale at my local Rymans, and it is beautifully light, with a smooth fine nib.

My only disappointment...

I do love CultPens, but they are starting to get uncomfortably on the nose with their newsletter subject headings...

Surely fountain pens aren't THAT much of an addiction? ;)

This week's Sunday snippet is from Wooing the Witch Queen, which is coming out in only 2-1/2 weeks (!!!)...and whose sweet cinnamon roll hero is an absolute fountain pen geek. ;)

(Luckily, the wicked witch queen heroine finds it endearing.)

It's Book Quote Wednesday! This week's word is "kind," and here's a snippet from Wooing the Witch Queen...in which, yes, all of my personal fountain pen geekery is finally coming to the fore. ;)

(I had the BEST time researching 19th century fountain pens!)

For my fellow fountain pen & ink addicts, one of the most stress-relieving video events of the year is back: Matthew of The Wet Pen's daily unboxing videos on YouTube as he opens a new door of an ink advent calendar every day 'til Christmas! SO hypnotically soothing: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLSGciytg-PThpEus5TDOrul8ok_vuWM9h

Because I haven't posted enough fountain pen geekery lately... ;)

This week I added to my growing hoard of Octopus Fluids mythic sheening inks by getting Sea Serpent. I love it! Its sheen is more subtle than some of the others in that line, but in the right light it's fantastic, & it flows SO well.

(Honestly, you can't put together a whole collection of ink based on mythic creatures and NOT expect fantasy writers to leap at them! ;)

And of course we couldn't go home without a visit to the Natural History Museum. We are a paleontology-loving family! I am going to be wiped out for the next several days, but what an amazing weekend. (All but the 1st of these pics were taken by my teenager.)

There's a lot of talk about the challenges of parenting teens, but there really isn't enough talk about just how great it can be, too. ❤️

Today's moments of beauty all came from our family's trip to Puzzlewood, in the Forest of Dean - one of my favorite places in the world, and so blatantly magical that it's been used as the setting for zillions of fantasy movies and TV shows, from Merlin to Star Wars. I love it every time. 💚

Yesterday was my family's 1st-ever visit to the La Brea Tar Pits, & it was SUCH an amazing experience, but the Harlan's ground sloth was my very favorite discovery. Did you know that they were naturally armoured, with pebble-shaped bits of bones embedded in their skin? SO cool. ❤️

Thanks to everyone who snapped up a copy of my snarky gothic fantasy rom-com in numbers that justified buying a commemorative fountain pen! :)

It's a vintage Pilot pocket fountain pen from the late 1960s, and I love it. And just look at how well it matches the cover! ❤️🦇❤️
