This is one I'm developing myself. I've used OptionNet Explorer for years and it works well, but there were things I just didn't like about it...mostly that it only runs on Windows so I've had to keep a Windows VM around just to run it. Plus there were other features I wanted. So I've been hacking away at this (w/ the help of Claude) for the past 2 months and I'm now using it full-time and l've started an early beta program with another trader I know to try to find more bugs/ideas/etc.

I've been on a massive kick to own my own stuff...I just picked up a decent starter AI box so I can run private models and not rely on the big guys nearly as much. I have my own mini data center at the house..this fedi instance has run on it for years. I still outsource email because, IMO, it's become a PITA to self-host. But outside of that, I run a bunch of the services I use locally.

My calendars closed at the market open for 8%. This trade was all IV and time decay...no real help from price movement, but that's how a lot of calendars work.

I will likely sit out until at least Thursday, maybe all week due to lots of events (big tech earnings, FOMC, and the midterms).

I opened a new SPX calendar 25 days to expiration with the longs 4 days further out. Opened it a bit earlier in the week than usual to see if I can squeeze anything out of it before FOMC week next week. We'll see. But with the higher IV, I'm getting good room to start.

You may be. Individuals can be. But large political organizations can’t really be...and that’s ok. There are differences that just can’t be overcome. Factions may be able to temporarily align around a common interest but, much like the US and the USSR in WW2, outside of that issue they are still in opposite sides and if you try to be one organization, you’ll have a schism.

That’s why there isn’t a viable 3rd party in the US. They end up only really agreeing that they don’t like the 2 parties but not much else. That was the fate of Perot’s “Reform Party“. Once it qualified for Federal money it just became a money grab between factions.

For the DMV, bi-partisan means they have 1990s Democrats on the right and outright Communists on the left. I grew up in the People’s Republic of Maryland. Moved away as an adult. No regrets.

It’s kind of like in the south. They say they have both kinds of churches: Baptist and Southern Baptist. But there it’s actually just a joke.

My point is they may actually believe they are non-partisan because the local Overton Window is so skewed to the left that actual conservatism is just out of bounds.

This week was a pretty calm, complacent week in the markets, which is great for my style of trading. I put on a trade on Tuesday, took profits on Friday. Things are likely to pick up soon so it's good to take advantage of the quieter times. Good lessons here.

Trading went well as we wrapped up September and entered the 4th quarter of the year. My calendar trades are still working well. This week I'm debuting a beta version of a new trading tool that I'm developing and as part of that beta, I tried to use it for this review. It went pretty well for a first cut, but it showed me a few gaps I need to work on. I welcome any feedback on the tool as well as my trades.

I went ahead and took of my calendars from last week for ~7%. I could have probably waited to get my full profit target, but time is risk and I'm ok taking a profit and putting a fresh trade on. This was a bit of a trader's choice. I may try going 5 days apart to see if that helps...IV has been really dragging my calendars recently.

Yet all I see there is people talking about Nostr. I love the idea, but until there's more going on, it's going to struggle. If there are accounts I should follow that talk about things other than Nostr and Bitcoin, I'm all ears.
