A chart of everything in the observable universe, plotted by the logs of their same-volume-sphere radii and the logs of their masses.

Devised by Lineweaver and Patel

Fun fact: each axis being logarithmic is why everything seems to sort neatly into bands.

On a log log graph, a constant slope means the two quantities are related by a power of the x-axis quantity. So basically this is saying, for most objects in the universe, mass scales with the cube of radius (as the slopes are uniformly 3).

Which makes sense, since that's also how volume scales, but there are some exceptions: namely that line of black holes, since their masses only scale with radius itself, not with the cube, which is also why we have that hard upper band of forbidden values.

2026-10-12T22:08:55Z https://nostr.now/nevent1qqsfnl0pvjmn8galdulz4q87qquz6vk82gr425unarhaw7j7cn46x8qzyq9ax652ceek8phf905xee49xln3wd90rmgc4tqta9fgecskhkqjsq3frn4 Clear sky, praise the Sun.

2026-10-12T13:13:15Z https://nostr.now/nevent1qqs0fqzjpuqxh2ruft6rvzvrqpr7ksemzjdhuykl0m5uvtkrdt0hw5qzyq9ax652ceek8phf905xee49xln3wd90rmgc4tqta9fgecskhkqjs6wjl8q I have a new laptop that I'm supposed to be getting soon, and I've already paid all the duties on it according to my initial purchase, but now UPS wants to hold it hostage until I've paid an additional $500 in tariff fees.

-_- 2026-10-10T21:58:53Z https://nostr.now/nevent1qqsyzsmpea2ua5lgltmquzrzpqgknxffgyjn79nmdveeevpzcpmpnhgzyq9ax652ceek8phf905xee49xln3wd90rmgc4tqta9fgecskhkqjs4gkz2v Hey folks!

Just a quick reminder that I will not be streaming this weekend, as I'll be helping with the Fastest Furs marathon, raising money for Trans Lifeline!

I'll be in the background off and on all marathon long, but I'll also be on the hosting mic from 11:20 'til 1:30 today!

Please consider a donation if you're able, and come see some of our runners kick some butt!

https://www.twitch.tv/fastestfurs 2026-10-09T14:05:32Z https://nostr.now/nevent1qqsz572ar4an9wdq2ts3kzsmpy267zdqqtwln5w3deg4rfh4ng3ns8gzyq9ax652ceek8phf905xee49xln3wd90rmgc4tqta9fgecskhkqjskxreeu My *college* students just asked me how it can possibly be that 2 times 3 isn't equal to 2 plus 3, and I wanna die, lol.

I just said, "Because addition and multiplication aren't the same operation?!" and I'm pretty sure they both didn't understand that explanation and also got their feelings hurt. 2026-10-08T17:32:49Z https://nostr.now/nevent1qqsr82w4kvdj9vl4gld4krj2wdg7azz6zpt7srwh8udum8wa29rw4pczyq9ax652ceek8phf905xee49xln3wd90rmgc4tqta9fgecskhkqjsjd0t0p My librarian friend just said the wildest sentence:

"Then me and this sex offender had heated debate about Leviticus." 2026-10-07T23:31:51Z https://nostr.now/nevent1qqswzrkyj4sp4my0agptqv8vrk5xwdw6h5tnwg75g9d69grvxd7wm7szyq9ax652ceek8phf905xee49xln3wd90rmgc4tqta9fgecskhkqjsj8quhq Sketchbook painting no.58

In honor of the pothole cover at my work.

#art #painting #watercolor #TraditionalArt

2026-10-07T17:45:26Z https://nostr.now/nevent1qqsqwgyj0l3vq9mnpnaax5003wpag9ej0d03dj073952dr7fkzl89fszyq9ax652ceek8phf905xee49xln3wd90rmgc4tqta9fgecskhkqjskmhdvg Ah, that feeling when I'm halfway through grading a test and the only question any student has gotten correct is the one that can be answered purely by observation.

This is what it feels like to lose my mind.

#math #teaching 2026-10-06T15:54:23Z https://nostr.now/nevent1qqsg00znd5n2d5s26aekd7k62ajkmraptchkwcnsp95yuhqzrndajyczyq9ax652ceek8phf905xee49xln3wd90rmgc4tqta9fgecskhkqjsj5tset I don't know about you, but when it happens, I'm planning on taking a whole week off of work and living inside of the raunchiest drag bar we can find for the duration. 2026-10-06T12:00:28Z https://nostr.now/nevent1qqszz3r65vpdpfvs6ga699jh0m5ffdnprvfdzxnun6vln7cehwkd3mqzyq9ax652ceek8phf905xee49xln3wd90rmgc4tqta9fgecskhkqjs60aap8 Sketchbook painting no.57

#art #painting #watercolor #TraditionalArt

2026-10-05T17:38:25Z https://nostr.now/nevent1qqstekq6jqy29s6jwdmh6q8z097dmj5dn7m4j3860qeay46t4pngjrqzyq9ax652ceek8phf905xee49xln3wd90rmgc4tqta9fgecskhkqjsy2dl6s Hello folks!

We're live with more Fright Train!

Come on down and get ready for furry zombie blastin!

See you soon!
