When you are old you get away with so much more, so much. People complain about getting old, but I don't see it. I mean if I ask the dealership about flying cars and they get alarmed or seem to be taking action of some kind, I can change the topic to the salesperson's outfit or their mom or dad, talk about my son, start crying about something, sit down, fall, or faint. Hell yeah. Well, I always write as weird as I can. Prohibitions that are an invitation. I just don't like wading through the mire sometimes. Thank you for your words. I have heard that advice. If there is something commonly said of one's work as a negative, go for it, intensify it. Having written more and more since that initial feedback, I do see its beauty. The one good thing about today is that I hope I gave the younger ladies who didn't talk about their work some courage.

I have written stories featuring each of these objects except one. Try and guess which one. I am cheating a bit in filling out the conceptual frame. And oopsie, I added too many categories. For sweet mastodonians who have responded to my interest in getting a cat, I took the next step today. A very tiny step. Well, two--I found some cool cat stuff I'd like to set up, though I haven't bought it yet. Except for these cute furry cushions for the cat tree. Then I contacted my apartment and learned the deposit and fee aren't nearly as bad as they could be. Do I have a cat yet, no. 😆 Here is a cat who came to me a couple of years ago, a stray. I named her Jenny, as in the Cat Club.

She's very attentive in offering suggestions when she's not being distracted by birds and squirrels. I groomed her with her new cat brush and gave her a treat. We enjoyed jazz on my portable Bose speaker. She's a very jazz cat. I am catching up with news while enjoying flourless 4 ingredient cake and vanilla chai tea. I think she is napping.

My small apartment porch would not be considered a "Southern porch," though it is south facing and I cram it with many plants. The house in North Carolina our family used to own--eventually, it was devastated by Helene--was home to many memories on the wrap-around. I love all the authors cited above, and have read a lot of Reynolds Price. I had to buy this, either to keep or gift to an apropos recipient.

I went out on a limb and had a #vinyl record of the Miles Davis album Kind of Blue, a limited edition that is an actual blue record, sent to my son. I made this "viral tiktok caramelized onion pasta recipe" along with blackened salmon and roasted zucchini. There are quite a few versions of this out there, its origins being among Italian Americans somewhere in the heartland. I followed this recipe and didn't add the basalmic in the sauce called for elsewhere and decided upon eating it, it needed a touch of something so added it to the finished dish along with extra salt. Pretty yummy.

In the ward, we ate along the lines of the American diet--carb heavy, super processed, over salted, sugary. Occasionally, we got a small fresh salad, a banana. But last night I was craving the biscuits we had. Not super great, but they passed the biscuit test--soft, doughy, salty. I was craving one. I found my way to some white bread product--Sergio's, a NY pizza joint close to Embry Riddle. Their ''white pizza'' was fine. Could have used more garlic, but I was happy.
