Diante da recente designação, pelo Tesouro e pelo Departamento de Estado dos EUA, do coletivo Autistici / Inventati como entidade terrorista global especialmente designada, a Kolektiva declara seu apoio total e inequívoco a nossys companheirys italianys e a todas as pessoas que buscam proteger nossos movimentos das garras dos Estados, do capitalismo de vigilância e de outros agentes de controle social.

Hoje, ao testemunharmos a ascensão de regimes autoritários e fascistas em todo o mundo, apoiar infraestruturas digitais independentes e autônomas tornou-se mais importante do que nunca. Os movimentos anarquistas, antiautoritários e autônomos têm séculos de experiência lutando e resistindo à repressão estatal, independentemente do alcance, da forma ou da tática que ela tenha assumido. Hoje é apenas mais um desses momentos.

No entanto, apesar das muitas formas como os ataques do Estado se adaptaram e evoluíram ao longo dos anos, uma coisa permanece a mesma: a resistência mais eficaz sempre esteve enraizada na solidariedade coletiva e internacional! Nossas redes são profundas e amplas. Estamos sempre a duas ou três pessoas de distância de entrar em contato com qualquer coletivo em qualquer lugar do mundo. E é aí que reside nossa força.

Este é um apelo à solidariedade material e prática com o pessoal fantástico da Autistici / Inventati, mas também é um apelo mais amplo para que grupos políticos e coletivos redobrem seus esforços para construir redes resilientes de infraestrutura autônoma e para mantê-las e apoiá-las adequadamente ao longo do tempo.

Precisamos ser criativys. Mesmo que nem todys tenhamos as habilidades técnicas específicas para programar ou manter infraestruturas de rede, tempo para atuar como moderadorys voluntáriys ou dinheiro para ajudar a cobrir os custos operacionais, provavelmente temos as habilidades necessárias para organizar uma festa, um festival de música ou um churrasco comunitário para arrecadar fundos e angariar apoio a um projeto tecnológico autônomo do qual dependemos.

Cada umy de nós deve tomar cuidado para evitar as armadilhas da desilusão e da conformidade. Devemos lembrar que, mesmo quando há uma calmaria entre tempestades, continuamos em guerra contra a lógica destruidora de vidas do capitalismo e dos Estados que o sustentam. E enquanto resistirmos à exploração, à opressão e à destruição do mundo que nos dá vida, esses Estados buscarão nos esmagar. Portanto, precisamos estar preparadys.

Encorajamos veementemente todas as pessoas que reconhecem o valor de construir e manter uma infraestrutura tecnológica autônoma a fornecer todo o apoio material possível aos coletivos que hoje se encontram na mira do Estado — como o Autistici / Inventati — ou aos outros coletivos tecnológicos que possam estar na mira amanhã.

Enquanto aguardamos para descobrir as melhores maneiras de ajudar a Austici / Inventati em sua luta contra os esforços do regime de Trump para isolá-lys e cortá-lys das redes de apoio financeiro e material, esperamos que companheirys ao redor do mundo aproveitem esta oportunidade como um lembrete para apoiar os outros coletivos de tecnologia que dedicam tanto esforço (muitas vezes voluntário) para ajudar a manter nossos movimentos seguros.

** KOLEKTIVA STATEMENT IN SOLIDARITY WITH AUTISTICI / INVENTATI **

In the face of the US Treasury and State Department's recent designation of the Autistici / Inventati collective as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist entity, Kolektiva declares our full, unequivocal support to our Italian comrades, and to all those who seek to protect our movements from the clutches of states, surveillance capitalists, and other agents of social control.

Today, as we bear witness to the rise of authoritarian and fascist regimes all around the world, supporting independent and autonomous digital infrastructure has become more important than ever. Anarchist, anti-authoritarian and autonomous movements have centuries of experience fighting and resisting state repression, whatever scope, shape or tactic it has assumed. Today is just another of those moments.

Yet despite the many ways that the State's attacks have adapted and evolved over the years, one thing remains the same: the most effective resistance has always been rooted in collective and international solidarity! Our networks are deep and wide. We're always two or three people away from being in contact with any collective anywhere in the world. And that's where our strength lies.

This is a call for material and practical solidarity with the fantastic people from Autistici / Inventati, but it is also a broader call for political groups and collectives to redouble our efforts to build resilient networks of autonomous infrastructure, and to properly maintain and support them over time.

We need to be creative. Even if we don't all have the specific technical skills to code or maintain network infrastructure, the time to volunteer as a moderator, or the money to help cover operating costs, we probably have the skills to throw a party, a music festival, or a community BBQ to raise money and build support for an autonomous tech project that we rely on.

Each of us must take care to avoid the pitfalls of disillusionment and complacency. We must remember that even where there's a calm between storms, we remain at war with the life-destroying logic of capitalism and the states that uphold it. And as long as we resist exploitation, oppression, and the destruction of the world that gives us life, those states will seek to crush us. So we need to be prepared.

We strongly encourage all those who see the value in building and maintaining autonomous tech infrastructure to provide whatever material support you can to those collectives who find themselves in the State's crosshairs today - such as Autistici / Inventati - or those other tech collectives who may be in their crosshairs tomorrow.

As we wait to learn the best ways to help Austici / Inventati in their fight against the Trump regime's efforts to isolate them and cut them off from networks of financial and material support, we would hope that comrades around the world take this opportunity as a reminder to support the other tech collectives that exert so much (often voluntary) effort to help keep our movements safe.

Many of you no doubt noticed that the Kolektiva servers were down for several hours this past weekend. This service outage was caused by a hardware error. The situation was complicated by the fact that it happened on a long weekend when several members of our tech team were unavailable.

The specific technical problem has been resolved, and a more long-term solution to the issue is currently being pursued.

kolektiva currently doesn't enable expanded searching functionalities since a lot of people here didn't want their posts to be more searchable then what they currently are, and want their stuff to stay in their network / community on the server.

That being said, even if we do want to enable that, there would be some discussions to have collectively and also some work to do on our infra before getting there.

🚨 Kolektiva.social SECURITY ALERT 🚨

This is an alert for Kolektiva.social users. Please read this post in its entirety!

In mid-May 2023, the home of one of Kolektiva.social's admins was raided, and all their electronics were seized by the FBI. The raid was part of an investigation into a local protest. Kolektiva was neither a subject nor target of this investigation. Today, that admin was charged in relation to their alleged participation in this protest.

Unfortunately, at the time of the raid, our admin was troubleshooting an issue and working with a backup copy of the Kolektiva.social database. This backup, dated from the first week of May 2023, was in an *unencrypted* state when the raid occurred and it was seized, along with everything else.

The database is the heart of a Mastodon server. A database copy such as the one seized may include any of the following user data, in this case up to date as of early May 2023:

- User account information like the e-mail address associated with your account, your followers and follows, etc.
- All your posts: public, unlisted, followers-only, *and direct ("DMs")*.
- Possibly IP addresses associated with your account - IP addresses on Kolektiva.social are logged for 3 days and then deleted, so IP addresses from any logins in the 3 days prior to the database backup date would be included.
- A hashed ("encrypted") version of your password.

🚨 👉 As a precaution we highly recommend that all users on Kolektiva.social *change their password immediately* to a new, unique, and strong password.

We sincerely apologize to all our users and regret this breach. In hindsight, it was obviously a mistake to leave a copy of the database in an unencrypted state. Unfortunately, what would otherwise have been a small mistake happened to coincide with a raid, due to bad luck and spectacularly bad timing.

We understand that our users and other people on the Fediverse will have a lot of questions. We will try to answer them as best we can, but please be patient and bear in mind that we may be overwhelmed with messages, and may be delayed in responding or unable to provide answers to certain questions for legal or technical reasons. As a security culture reminder, it can be extremely harmful to the individuals charged and to our community to openly speculate on the Internet about alleged criminal activity or about what law enforcement may be able to do with seized data. Our present awareness is that the seized Kolektiva data is unrelated to the federal investigation and prosecution and we are exploring legal avenues to have the seized data returned and copies destroyed.
