I definitly need more Time to read this (which I don't have right now), but I must point out. Brains are definitively computers... But not built in a digital von Neumann architecture.

And therefore I don't see a reason why "scientist" shouldn't be able to find a copy of Beethoven on it, because it must be stored their in one form or another. Not as a mp3, but in some (perhaps more complex) form it is there.

Most of the time it's measured in numbers of publications... Which actually doesn't tell much about the quality.

I would even argue, this is hurting the credibility of science as a whole, because there is a pressure to just publish as much as possible.

This movie isn't offending in any way. It's a audio visual masterpiece created by some of the most talented artists of the late 20th century, including Moebius himself...

To my knowledge Bluesky is not completely decentralized.

* This PDS system is very limited by now.
* They are using their very own protocol instead of a W3C stand like other do.

Everything is designed so that the server controlled by Bluesky will always be the dominant. And therefore buying this server will be equivalent of buying everything.

Being open sourced or not doesn't make a big difference here.

As a public institution you need to be very careful of what implications your behavior brings.

If being (only) on closed social media platforms for public communication, that would bring the implications of pushing people to a decision between not interacting at all or being exposed to potential dark patterns and data misusage by the platform providers.

So it's in the responsibility of every public institution to always provide an alternative.

What do you mean with premium subscription? How should "mastodon" have premium subscription? Do you mean like paying a annual fee for you instances provider? That's very much a thing already.

Mastodon.green e.g gives you the premium feature of planting trees for you. The biggest difference between mastodon and Blue sky so far is that one only exists to make a rich guy richer.

I realized what impact the Material has. Fun fact all objects in this scene have the same material that is using the same 320x320 Pixel Textures.

All the objects combined have like 5000 Vertices
