On a long walk today, I found this neighborhood library in Wallingford, part of Seattle. The books available were all about food, including cookbooks. We have hundreds of these free libraries in the city, with new ones opening steadily. Most are quite plain. This is one of the best-designed I've seen. Bon appetit!

Very few people and dogs, all of them well behaved. We didn't get much information when we adopted Jean and Michel 3 years ago, and they're still almost feral. We cannot pick them up and always have to approach them carefully, or they'll run. Their first 2 years must have been with horrible people. But, surprises happen. Michel found his inner comfort #kitty when my wife had a #cancer resurgence a few months ago. On the weekend, visited the Museum of Glass in Tacoma, where my favorite was a sculpture called Winter Plum by Debora Moore. Found this comforting and lovely. The fruits, the frost, the branches, are all made from glass. There can still be beautiful moments at the end of the world.

A visit to #Olympia with a grace note in an alley off Capitol Way. There was no credit nor translation I could find, but the word "st’əč’ás", from the #Lushotseed or Puget Sound #Salish language, transfers into standard English as "Stechass" or "Steh-Chass". It denotes some of the First Peoples who lived here, a long-gone village of theirs, & the area of today's Budd Inlet. The images seem to tell a story of seafaring, colonialization, and difficult encounters. #art #wallart #FirstPeoples
