Since these are close to impossible to get locally or used and I don't want to buy from the crap store that sells everything, I wonder if these can be 3D printed. It would need to be very precise, but more importantly, it would need to have a certain combination of stiffness, since the outer tube flexes a tiny bit when the inner part is pushed. So far I haven't found models or people who were able to pull it off.
Ari [APz] Sovijärvi (npub1hzy…wwp4) maybe you have some ideas, having tested lots of filament types?

Just Linux bullshit: When KDE once again forgets which monitors were active and decides to put everything on the one that is turned off and only that one, so that it looks like it didn't even start because you don't see a taskbar, menu or wallpaper. WTF. How are multi-monitor setups (and sound) still magically broken all the time after all these years, even though Linux has come this far?!
#Linux

Half-Life: Alyx will be playable on Steam Frame without a PC. It makes sense, but apparently it was not easy to port the game - and Valve employees explicitly state that using open source drivers was helpful, because they could improve them themselves and test immediately instead of waiting for the chip manufacturer to provide updates. This should also further improve all Linux systems running on ARM.
#Linux #VR

I guess people like me who have maybe 2 kg of mixed filament waste over a year are not interesting at all. Recyclingfabrik has now also changed their policy of sending packages - you have to pay in advance and only get the money back as credits for their shop. So even more and more often I need to buy from them. I can see the possible economical reasons, but for me, that's just not interesting. I wish I could dump it at a maker space or so.

I've accumulated quite the credits at Recyclingfabrik without ever sending filament in. Too bad it expires in a few months because they changed their "reward points never expire" policy when they changed their reward system. Sad reminder that companies with sustainable products are still capitalist companies. There's some other changes, too, and the message overall is that people like me will not benefit or might even pay (a little) extra to have their filament recycled.
#3Dprinting #recycling

Printed the 5th white part of the portal gun today. While it's interesting to learn about large prints and nozzles and I look forward to assembling the thing, this is not something I intend to do more often. It's nerve-wracking and experiments are more expensive because they waste more material. Most of my cosplay work so far was from used clothes, used wood and a bit of foam, cardboard and paint, and I liked that. I'll also come back to the Worbla arm brace soon.

Guess if I ever try it, I should pick one with recommended slicer settings available on the internet. :) And I am curious. Right now I can't come up with an application, but if this won't get useful for cosplay somewhen, I don't know. It might be great for helmets, which are often a problem when also wearing a wig.

I understood it so that they move satellites randomly based on only time. So that's not it? They're moving based on collision risk, and the risk is too high every 2 min?
So there's a lot of collision risk calculation going on all the time?Is that why you stress the importance of keeping maneuvers up - because they'd stop if calculation stopped working?

I am having a lot of fun messing with the first game I ever contributed to, our 2022 gamejam project Labodytory. I want to show off what we did with the level design, so I made some custom gizmos and added a couple cameras to get better footage. It's nice to remember what we did but also kinda shocking how inconsistent some of the stuff is. Old, half-destroyed buildings always have this special light and I was able to capture quite a bit of it today. It also did a good job at Gamescom.

I went to an art exhibition today. Still need to edit the photos (and with that I need to finally figure out why unedited photos look like shit when opened with Darktable, whereas they look great on the camera display) so this is not the best shot, but it was a cool installation. Everything that's black is made of VHS tape.

iBug is not a Kulturhauptstadt thing, but this year it's in Chemnitz and it's worth a visit every time. It's basically street art installed in industry ruins.

Last year it was on the peninsula of the small lake by the city center, but that was too small so they moved to a new location this year. It was nice. Also, they always bring those iconic Funktion One speakers that also sound fantastic. ☺️

Went out to a local free festival tonight. They had a stage presented by HÖR, a techno project with popular Youtube channel with a great selection of DJs. It took a while until the crowd had warmed up but then it was really good! Some good plain techno (Acid?), nice location and fun dancing. Met up with friends afterwards, danced to some Drum&Bass and had a chat. Great evening, I missed dancing. Lack of clubs I like to go to is a minor one, but still one of the reasons I want to move.
#Techno

Today, I spent an hour trying to figure out why my zsh prompt did not show git status info for my home dir. I figured out that the prompt uses powerlevel10k, which uses a custom tool to get git status info which does not recognize the home dir as git repo. Turns out that the home dir is excluded because the maintainer of powerlevel10k got tired of false bug reports by people who have a git repo in their home dir and don't know about it. 1/2
#OpenSource #FOSS

Sad example of open source problems. I guess this is how you end up being the person on the Arch forum deleting posts that are not about self-installed plain Arch. While I think that just throwing "not a git dir" in an inaccesible place is a bad solution, it also makes me wonder what's a good way to deal with people who have no fucking clue about anything in open source projects.

Okay so clear PETG is not clear like glass but it might actually be perfect for putting LEDs below and having the light dispersed nicely. I might be onto something here #3Dprinting #cosplay
